POPSMandate? Stop it. There is no "mandate" Moreover.... if a white democrat candidate had run with Obama's qualifications and experience, there was no way he would have been elected. Racisim put Dear Leader in the White House.

POPSGlobal Warming Lies Will Bring On An Economic Recession October 2008 went down as Fairbanks’ fourth-coldest October on record since 1904, according to meteorologist Rick Thoman with the National Weather Service in Fairbanks. The average temperature of 15.1 degrees was 8.4 degrees below normal. … There were 13 days when the low temperature was zero or colder, the most sub-zero days in October since 1965, which holds the record of 14 sub-zero days in October and ranks as the second-coldest October on record. These 2008 records challenging levels going back to 1904 and 1965 prove that CO2 levels cannot be the driver of global temperatures claimed by the alarmists on the left and inside the UN. CO2 levels are very high compared to 1904, let alone 1965, and so is the world’s human population. For example, in 1900 the world population was 1.65 billion people, in 1965 it was 3.33 billion and in 2005 it was 6.45 billion.

POPS Al Gore For What? President-elect Barack Obama's transition team is flirting with creating a White House "Climate Czar," but climate change crusader Al Gore says he doesn't want the job. Obama transition chief John Podesta promoted a similar idea earlier in his role as president of the Center for American Progress, a liberal Washington think tank. Mr. Podesta authored a white paper calling for an Energy Security Council within the White House to oversee climate change and clean energy initiatives. The czar and the council would coordinate agencies, including the Energy and Interior departments and the Environmental Protection Agency. • The Amish are relocated en masse to unelectrified penal colonies in Alaska because they refuse to pledge allegiance to anyone but God; they fail to accept that Obama is God. Unlike other deportations, this one saves the People's State money because the Amish are pacifists. Their formerly productive farmland is redistributed to ACORN staff and people George Soros likes (until he quits liking them; people do not think about what happens after that). Results similar to those in Zimbabwe fail to be reported in the state media. • The Amish are joined by those Rastas too stoned to fight back, although some Rastas merely remain under state suspicion after conceding that, as per Bob Marley, "the Almighty God is a living man" refers not to Haile Selassie but Barry Obama. • The Red Cross becomes the Red Circle (aka the Red 'O') and blood donations become mandatory. Those without recent donations are denied bread rations. . Mandated "volunteer" camps teach youth educational value of

POPSRebuilding the Electricity Grid Pair my colleague Andy Stone's story with Al Gore's op-ed in the New York Times this weekend. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/09/opinion/09gore.html?ref=opinion . There, Gore calls for "the planning and construction of a unified national smart grid for the transport of renewable electricity from the rural places where it is mostly generated to the cities where it is mostly used." Stone's story fleshes out the matter.

POPSAl Gore: Climate, Economic Crises Have Same Solution From an op-ed in the NYT . Writes Gore, "Looking ahead, I have great hope that we will have the courage to embrace the changes necessary to save our economy, our planet and ultimately ourselves." It makes sense. Rebuilding our infrastructure to deal with global warming would also be a huge jobs program and a boost to help create new industries. All of this Bush stuff about dealing with emissions being bad for the economy is BS. It's always been BS. I keep saying it's the buggywhip industry complaining about those newfangled horseless carriages. There's no reason to listen to these people. They're just backwards looking defenders of dying industries.

POPSNovelist-Screenwriter Michael Crichton, Dies At 66 Crichton would visit that theme again with his triumphant Jurassic Park -- the story of a billionaire entrepreneur who tries to thwart nature and evolution by creating a theme park of genetically engineered dinosaurs. Again, the villain was of our own creation and just doing what nature dictated. In addition to being a prolific novelist, Crichton was an accomplished screenwriter (Extreme Close-Up, Twister) and director (Coma) -- the latter also a scientific cautionary tale by a British MD turned writer, Robin Cooke. He believed that there was a phenomenon he called "consensus science" that invented or exaggerated the existence or effects of such things as global warming and second-hand smoke. No less a believer than Al Gore dismissed Crichton, and presumably his 2004 novel State of Fear, by telling a U.S. House committee: "The planet has a fever. If your baby has a fever, you go to the doctor....

POPSPossible McCain win scenarios Which states to watch: Out of 10,000 simulations, McCain wins 624. "there are some states that truly do appear to be "must-wins" for McCain. In each and every one of the 624 victory scenarios that the simulation found for him this afternoon, McCain won Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Indiana and Montana. He also picked up Ohio in 621 out of the 624 simulations, and North Carolina in 622 out of 624. If McCain drops any of those states, it's pretty much over.

POPSOne Man's "Dream-Team" Is Another Man's "Cuckoo's Nest" One Flew Over The Cuckoo Nest Redux video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJrBhtnQ42U Don’t forget Al Gore as Secretary of the Navy. He’s already plying the high (and ever higher) seas aboard the BS (Bio-Solar) 1. Why not send him to face down the Somalis pirates? (“You lied! You played upon our fears!!”) Chris Matthews as Press Secretary is also a no-brainer. He’ll need the podium to hide how far up his leg that thrill has gone. The Clintons will make for entertaining bookends on the Supreme Court after Stevens and Ginsberg retire, knowing their seats will be safely handed on to like-minded lefties. (Just remember to serve the coffee in styrofoam—no china.) Also remember, everyone, not to show up the star. You are merely players. It’s Barack’s world, you just live there. POPSMcCain voters: Don't Read - about intelligent political debate Reagan health programme would have appalled most Americans , had he explained it as carefully as Carter had done, but he had found a formula for avoiding tough political issues and making his opponents look like wonks. It wasn't always like this. The founding fathers of the republic - Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton and others - were among the greatest thinkers of their age. They felt no need to make a secret of it. How did the project they launched degenerate into George W Bush and Sarah Palin? ... Guardian

POPSAl Gore: When Powerpoint Gets in the Way Al Gore gives a great opening and closing to his presentation here, using very personal stories, humor and high interactivity with the audience. You can feel him relating to his audience. He comes across clearly and authentically. However, notice how that fades when he goes into his set of 15 text slides. These could have been much stronger with less text. This would have made it easier for the audience to read, and allowed him to connect more with the audience. Instead he's doing a combination of reading the slide, rewording part of the message and then adding on some talking points. This tend to come across more as a scripted lecture and less an invitation to join him, which is the atmosphere he creates so well in the beginning and end of the presentation. You can see additional comments at the TED website: http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/al_gore_on_averting_climate_crisis.html

POPSAl Gore Live Webcast I am not a US citizen but I do NOT want more REPUBLICAN policies affecting this planet, from economics to global warming, etc. Not to mention Torture of prisoners which is the worst crime against humanity AND spending money to rescue the US banks that could have helped correct the poverty on this planet! How can they justify saving the banks and leaving the poor to starve?

POPSWill Republicans Steal the 2008 election? This interview is with Mark Crispin Miller. If you want to see who is actually trying to steal the elections -- and tactics of Republican voter suppression going on right now, his books are good details and summaries. He wrote: Fooled Again: How the Right Stole the Election Cruel and Unusual: Bush Cheney's New World Order & The Bush Dyslexicon Republicans are the party that tries to purge voters from the rolls. The Republicans are the ones who are always crying wolf and voter fraud while they are the ones doing it, and doing massive campaigns of voter suppression. If you've heard about ACORN and charges of their alleged voter fraud (which it ain't) then you know what's going on -- and in Miller interview here & his book -- you get a good explaination of what's going on behind the scenes...a massive and decade long program of attempts at voter suppression by the Republicans. Let's not get fooled again.

POPSRepublicans are flailing and Panicking The republicans simply don't get it. Smears have begun to backfire and work less and less, particularly when they aren't credible. The internet and the wealth of information makes parsing words and making false smears stick practically impossible. They haven't figured that out.
