McCain added the two appointments Alito and Roberts are his recent favorites. When asked does evil exist and if so how would handle it? Ignore it, negotiate with it, confront it or defeat it Obama: verbose, wordy ..... he would confront it but also equivocated on what evil is. "We have to have some humility on the issue on the of confronting". Evil has been been committed in the pursuit of good. *sigh* McCain: "DEFEAT IT" huge applause. McCain went on to describe Radical Islam as the greatest threat of the 21at century. He said he would pursue bin Laden “to the gates of Hell,” Gotta love that. Obama's most important advisers: Michelle (the "proud" wife, the grandmother "a typical white person", and then a bumch of politicians - Ted Kennedy, Nunn, Biden et al McCain's most important advisers: Gen. David Petreaus, head of US troops in Iraq; US Rep. and veteran civil rights leader John Lewis, D-Ga.; and former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, a top adviser to his campaign.

If one more "R" gets on SCOTUS we can all say TOOTLES to civil liberties & HELLO to Fascism. A statement from an everyday Alarmist? No its serious! The court now in lockstep with the "R" ideology which protects the wealthy and gives a nose-thumb at those who need help. The kind of social order they wish to spread across our land, is not democracy. Not with, cruel punishment for those who can't pay their way out of a guilt accusation. Not with, melt down of habeas corpus. Not with, stripping a woman of her right to choose what's best for her body & circumstances. Not with, laws, claiming Voter Id's before one can vote. Not with, reducing punitive damages to large corp. who will become more reckless not having to face large losses to their beloved capital. Not with, dismantling gun-control laws putting all at risk of being murdered by the disgruntled, the disturbed who should never possess lethal weapons. Remember 1 or 2 more "R" justices and you can kiss your, you-know-what bye-bye:-(

It is about time they get this RIGHT! Lets just think for a minute what our forefathers had just went though when they wrote the constitution. Do you really think they were worried about people protecting themselves from attach in their homes? Or making sure people were armed to protect themselves from an out of control government? My personal stands is the latter. And of course with that, the former is a given. Do yourself a favor and me too. Sign-up for this free service and receive a FREE DVD. Then watch it with an open mind. http://www.frontsight.com/gun-training-reports.asp

Democracy Now, had a very informative show on June 13, 2006. They started their segment with Vince Warren on the Supreme Court's ruling of June 12th... That the detainees will have the same rules that America abides by in our Constitution... This ruling has happened 3 times now... The last two times Bush and his Republican Congress had it somewhat annulled. The Judges did not do as they were told so their ruling cannot stand. This is the mindset of Bush and his good little Judges Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Chief Justice Roberts but Justice Kennedy was... "A Bad Boy, A Very Naughty Boy" ... (A Flashback: On what Larry Craig Called Bill Clinton ) Watch the video and stay tuned for (Renowned Attorney Vincent Bugliosi Seeks “The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder”) next on Youtube.

The Supreme Court According To Bush.
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  6-13-2008
The Supreme Court - According to Bush and his merry band of neoconservatives the only function of this Court should be TO DO AS THEY TELL IT TO DO. Well the 4 lackeys' did just that, 2 of which he appointed himself, the others, one his Daddy's choice and the other (he wished he was his daddy) Reagan's. Good ole Reagan appointed Anthony Scalia, (Scalia on capital punishment: "Death is no big deal" {unless of course it's his or his loved ones} - Hypocrisy to the highest degree!) did Bush's bidding just like a good little justice was suppose to do. But the tie breaker was Kennedy (Justice Anthony Kennedy acknowledged the terrorism threat the country faces — the administration's justification for the detentions — but he declared, "THE LAWS AND THE CONSTITUTION ARE DESIGNED TO SURVIVE AND REMAIN IN FORCE, IN EXTRAORDINARY TIMES!") Thank all that is good that Reagan slipped up on this nomination, when he nominated a THINKER to the Supreme Court. Will wonders never cease? thinkingblue

Supreme Court Judges: Judge, Not Legislate
merrie
by merrie  5-6-2008
But just as McCain has asked voters to check his opponents' track record, a glance at his is heartening. McCain, unlike a number of fellow GOP senators, voted in favor of Ronald Reagan's failed nomination of Robert Bork to the Supreme Court. And as National Review Online's Jim Geraghty notes, McCain characterized as "a largely unknown quantity" George H.W. Bush's nomination of Justice David Souter — who now usually votes with the high court's liberal contingent. We know that Sens. Clinton and Obama want the federal judiciary to be a liberal quasi-legislature. McCain this week committed himself to buttressing the federal courts' integrity as what they were meant to be: nonpolitical tribunals, dedicated to upholding the Constitution.

US Supremes To Bush "Don't Mess With Texas"
merrie
by merrie  3-25-2008    2
President George W. Bush urged that Medellin be allowed new hearings and sentencing. The President's decision came after an international consulate determined that Medellin was improperly denied access to his consulate before his original prosecution, which is a violation of a treaty signed by the United States during the 1963 Vienna Convention. The 6-3 vote means the pending execution of Medellin can proceed. He faces lethal injection for two slayings. Chief Justice John Roberts voted for the execution. Roberts was supported in his position by Justices John Paul Stevens, Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito. Justice Stephen Breyer, Justices David Souter and Ruth Bader Ginsburg voted in the negative At age 18, Medellin participated in the June 1993 gang rape and murder of two Harris County, Texas, girls: Jennifer Ertman, 14, and Elizabeth Pena, 16. He was convicted of the crimes and sentenced to death. He has been on death row in Texas ever sin

What Obama's Senate Votes Reveal
merrie
by merrie  2-25-2008
This past September, he joined 27 other Democrats in voting for a bill ordering Bush to begin withdrawing most American forces within 90 days. >>>>>>>>>>>from msnbc.com 'Yes' on Iraq funding cutoff The bill would have cut off funding for the Iraq deployment by June 30, 2008. Just two hours before that vote, Obama missed another Senate vote, this one to denounce a full-page New York Times ad run by the anti-war group Moveon.org mocking the U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus as “General Betray Us.” http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23276453/page/2/ >>>>>>>>>>>>> Last October Obama voted for an act that would have allowed illegal immigrants who become permanent legal residents to qualify for lower in-state tuition rates at state universities. Obama voted against a bill extending the cuts in capital gains and dividends tax rates that Congress enacted in 2003, and against the repeal of the tax on inherited wealth, the es

Ann Coulter To Campaign For Hillary Clinton:::And Here's Why
merrie
by merrie  2-4-2008    2
Is a pro-abortion socialist-in-everything-but-name Hillary Clinton administration preferable to a McCain administration? Coulter: McCain's record is as bad and liberal as Hillary's. But her badness is expressed when she's seeking Democrats' votes. If McCain were in front of Democrats he'd sound like Herbert Marcuse. And don't tell me McCain is better on the war. Campaigning in front of Code Pink types, Hillary has repeatedly said she will hit terrorists hard, and hedged her bets (thereby losing votes) on whether she'd execute a quick pullout from Iraq. This probably makes her as tough as McCain, especially since he's busy sniffling into his handkerchief about the tragedy of Guantanamo. As to the domestic commie stuff Hillary peddles, I think she'll do a lot less damage than McCain, because he would co-opt Republican congressmen. They would fight Hillary. We're imperiled by both of them but I think Hilary presents fewer risks.

If the swing towards Romney in California continues , he will emerge from Tuesday's contest in a solid second place with a new narrative and a renewed debate about the race --can Romney surpass McCain in Ohio and Texas in March? The rapidly fading Huck would simply disappear, as he is doing in many places where the obvious has already registered: A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain. A vote for McCain is a vote AGAINST the traditional family and traditional family values.

McCain, Like Janus, The Two-Faced Roman God
merrie
by merrie  1-31-2008    1
"Wouldn't it be great if you get a chance to name somebody like Roberts and Alito?" one lawyer commented. McCain replied, "Well, certainly Roberts." Jaws were described as dropping. My sources cannot remember exactly what McCain said next, but their recollection is that he described Alito as too conservative. Anti-tax activist Grover Norquist is worried about a prominent journalist informing him that McCain a few years ago said to him, off the record, that as president he would have to raise taxes. McCain more recently has told me, on the record, he never would support a tax increase and, consequently, favors making permanent the Bush tax cuts. As Senate Indian Affairs Committee chairman, McCain in 2005 subpoenaed records of Norquist's dealings with Republican Jack Abramoff. Norquist said McCain held a grudge against him for campaigning against the senator's 2000 presidential bid. Norquist told me he has no personal animus and only wants assurance that McCain opposes higher taxes
