POPSA Butler Well Served by This Election I think it's probably a fair criticism that there's been a little too much talk about the historic nature of this election. It's no doubt historic -- it's just gotten a little bit too breathless at times. Lots of journalists have been grasping at a story that captures the history, but a lot of the stories have just relied on repeating "historic". Now, if you agree with my premise, that it is historic but it's been a bit overblown, then you probably wish there was one, really great story, that captured it all, right? Here it is -- the story that everyone else wishes they'd written.

These scores were then entered into a database and correlated to 250 different measurements and facial features, such as ratios of the nose, chin and distance from ears to eyes. From this, the scientists created an algorithm that applies desirable elements of attractiveness to a fresh image." Very nice, so beauty is after all numbers and distances and sizes... :)

This is smuggling. This is illegal," says Jim Puckett, founder of the Basel Action Network, a group working to stop the dumping of toxic materials in poor countries that certifies ethical e-waste recyclers in the United States. "A lot of people are turning a blind eye here. And if somebody makes enough noise, they're afraid this is all going to dry up." E-waste workers in Guiyu, China, where Pelley's team videotaped, put up with the dangerous conditions for the $8 a day the job pays. They use caustic chemicals and burn the plastic parts to get at the valuable components, often releasing toxins that they not only inhale, but release into the air, the ground and the water. Potable water must now be trucked into Guiyu and scientists have discovered that the city has the highest levels of cancer-causing dioxins in the world. Pregnancies in Guiyu are six times more likely to result in miscarriages, and seven out of 10 children there have too much lead in their blood. Allen Hershkowitz

'let's hope there's intelligent life somewhere up in Space 'cos there's bugger all down here on earth" continues In the coming months, two new tools will greatly expand astrobiologists' capacity to hear and see other promising signs of life. Later this summer, the nonprofit SETI Institute, named with the acronym for the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, will begin listening for alien broadcasts on the new $50 million Allen Telescope Array. A spread of 42 radio dishes in California's Cascade Mountains, the array is the first such facility built specifically to listen for E.T. "We're looking for life that's clever enough to hold up its side of the conversation," says Seth Shostak, a senior astronomer at the SETI Institute. The array, half funded by Microsoft mogul Paul Allen, will search for alien signals at a clip "hundreds to thousands times faster" than current SETI projects, says Shostak.

POPSRepublican Confesses: "How I Rigged an Election."
While Republicans on the news -- and their trolls now here at clipmarks -- a full time once again trying to suppress the vote with false charges of voter fraud and by trying to put minority and poor advocates out of the voter registration business... ...here's a FACT: This guy was arrested for Republican dirty tricks during the election. FACT. This guy went to jail for a real Republican sponsored election tampering. The Republican attacks against this group, ACORN...and their false attempts to link ACORN to Obama (as if Obama needs to do voter fraud...) --- all this has been done before and is the Classic method of Republican voter suppression. They started doing this seriously real bad from the year 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, now; and they intend to continue this for years forward. So when you hear the lies about ACORN today; I hope you will also consider the FACT of Republican voter dirty tricks that is documented here, and proved by this guy going to jail.
