POPSBecome a Bank Holding Company Like them, I’ve got some bad loans out there, and I’m suffering from “market turbulence.” My nephew is into me for two grand on a college loan, and he can’t seem to get a job that doesn’t require a hair-net. Meanwhile, my bartender at the Chug-a-Lug will testify that I’m behind on my bar tabs because of the “unusual and exigent circumstances” roiling financial markets. That’s the very line that American Express used to get its snout into the public trough, so why not me?

POPSEmployee Free Choice Act We The People, may finally have a voice now that Barack Obama is our President. Hope is overflowing for the downtrodden American worker who saw labor hour increases while compensation decreased due to the many monitory escalations of Energy, Food, Shelter, Healthcare and Clothing. Disparity was the rule. This Employee Free Choice Act must be passed so that the American worker can start climbing out of the quagmire, too many years of Corporate rule put us in. POPSA Win For the Good Guys The SPLC was victorious in their civil trial against the IKA. Good news in light of all the negativity with the economy, racial threats after the election and the stripping of rights in California. Where there are people of conscience there is hope.

POPSJury Awards $2.5 million to Teen Beaten by KKK An all-white jury of seven men and seven women deliberated for five hours after three days of testimony. The suit alleged that Edwards, Hensley, and the Imperial Klans of America as a whole incited its members to use violence against minorities. "The people of Meade County, Kentucky, have spoken loudly and clearly. And what they've said is that ethnic violence has no place in our society, that those who promote hate and violence will be held accountable and made to pay a steep price," said Southern Poverty Law Center founder Morris Dees.

POPSRacial Profiling Ruckus in Palo Alto "Victims of the recent crime wave in Palo Alto have variously described their assailants as being black, Latino, white, or Pacific Islander males, so many residents of Palo Alto and neighboring cities are wondering why the police chief is apparently targeting African Americans. Community leaders including Congresswoman Anna Eshoo and Palo Alto Mayor Larry Klein expressed deep concern about Chief Johnson's ability to continue to act as head of the city's police department. Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Palo Alto, issued a statement condemning the chief's original remarks. Eshoo said that Chief Johnson had "demonstrated a profound lack of judgment and leadership." In an official statement the Congresswoman said that the Police Chief should rescind her comments and orders or resign. Palo Alto Mayor Larry Klein said the chief's remarks were "unacceptable, unconstitutional and un-American."
