POPSDept. of You Can't Make this $%&! Up! Presents: Karl Rove I mean really, of all the people to say something like this, Karl Rove? And please spare me the "Armitage said it first!" bull. Just because somebody commits a crime does not open the way for others. Armitage cooperated with investigators, Rove and Libby obstructed justice.

POPSRapid permafrost thaw expected
"Climate warming is degrading permafrost, and roads, runways and building foundations in many parts of the North have been buckling and cracking as the top layer of the ground thaws. The increasingly mushy ground also has created "drunken forests," where trees now lean at strange angles. At least 30 per cent of all the carbon stored in soils worldwide is found in the North -- and scientists worry rising temperatures will release carbon dioxide and methane, both potent greenhouse gases, now locked in the permafrost. "To me, probably the biggest uncertainty is whether methane emissions are going to go up, and if they are, by how much," says Lawrence. Last summer, the Arctic sea ice shrank to more than 30 per cent below average, setting a modern-day record. Temperatures over land in the western Arctic also were unusually warm, reaching more than 2 C above the 1978-2006 average and raising questions about whether the ice retreat was tied to the warming temperatures over land."

POPSJune's Young Crescent Moon - Astronomy Picture of the Day The revolution of the Moon around the Earth makes the Moon appear as if it is changing shape in the sky. This is caused by the different angles from which we see the bright part of the Moon's surface. These are called "phases" of the Moon. Of course, the Moon doesn't generate any light itself; it just reflects the light of the Sun. The Moon passes through four major shapes during a cycle that repeats itself every 29.5 days. The phases always follow one another in the same orde

POPSCar design for the senior circuit "It's very difficult to drive, says Nissan's Naoki Yamamoto after a turn at the wheel in a suit that runs from neck to feet. "You lose the freedom you're accustomed to, and while you can move, there are limitations, such as turning the steering wheel or switching on the blinker."

POPS58% Majority Of Voters View Clinton Favorably Or Neutrally…Media Refuses To Report It This is, of course, a fancy way of saying “we didn’t get the results we wanted the first time, so we went back and found some more black people who would tell us how much they hate the bitch.” With the right Wright answers finally in hand, the announced results found Mrs. Clinton with a 37% positive rating and a 48% negative rating. Obama had a 49% positive rating and a 32% negative rating. The national media spin of Obama thus continues with lame pundits convincing themselves that the country doesn’t mind the anti-White, anti-American rantings of the Democratic frontrunner’s chosen father figure and closest adviser since 1988. NBC, home of such translucent Hillary haters as Keith Blowbermann and the perpetually lipless Chris Matthews — joined with conservative mouthpiece The Wall Street Journal to produce a poll — prObama (in the case of NBC) and anti-Clinton (in the case of the WSJ).

POPSKei's "Sayonara" music video has wonderful editing I really, REALLY like this track. I'm not sure what to dub it stylistically, but it's very high-tempo, techy, melodic trance with great vox and bleepy SFX. Nothing too "out there", but a solid performer. The music video has ULTRA visual accompaniment — the camera pans, angles, and how it's all put together work incredibly well. One of the best parts is the clever editing of looped Second Life animations to give them a more dynamic, varied feel. Bravo! One of my fave Second Life vids so far. ^_^

POPSShhhh, Five Secret New York sites
Whispering gallery-How to get there: On the subway (New York's equivalent to the London Underground), go to Grand Central/42nd St station, on the S/4/5/6/7 trains. If you're walking, you want the East 42nd St and Vanderbilt Avenue entrance to Grand Central. Once inside the station, ask anyone where the Oyster Bar is. Cleopatra's needle-How to get there: Enter Central Park from the east side (5th Avenue) at the 84th St entrance - follow the path around, keeping the Metropolitan Museum on your left. The needle is level with the museum. If you're going by Metro, take a 1, 2, or 3 train to 86th St station, and walk three blocks west to the park. While you're in the park - you should also take a look at the enchanting Alice In Wonderland statue that hides at the northern end of Conservatory Water. Alice sits cross-legged on a huge mushroom, with the March Hare on one side and the Mad Hatter on the other. To reach the statue from the obelisk, keep heading south through the park.

POPSDinosaur Skin Mag: Hot chicks, skin totally preserved! Fortunately, Paleontologist Theagarten Lingham-Soliar of the University of KwaZulu-Natal announced that the Psittacosaurus unearthed in Liaoning Province had intact, fossilized epidermis proving once and for all that the integumentary structure of Mesozoic Reptiles was in fact one of scales of hardened epithelial tissue, probably constructed from keratin (a) protiens, rather than feather like appendages constructed from keratin (b). 'Nuf said! (Spell check that you bastards!)
