POPSFaroe Islands Barbarity abounds on the beautiful islands of Faroe. Can we excuse the bloodthirsty slaughter of these intelligent creatures on the basis that animals in food production also suffer, or that it's part of their culture, as some people do? Of course not! Quite apart from the fact that two wrongs do not make a right, if we justified this barbarity on the grounds of culture we'd also have to accept the practice of child marriage, suttee, clitorendectomies etc. Note too that the meat is not eaten...the animals are left to rot because heavy metal contamination renders their meat useless for human consumption according to EU standards for for human food. Aren't we a wonderful species - NOT!

POPSThe Barnyard Strategist A small step in the right direction is better than standing still or going backwards. The problem is the severe and tragic limitations of modern human consciousness.

POPSPillar of Unbelief - Freud First, Freud's "super-ego" is not the intellect or conscience, but the unfree, passive reflection in the individual's psyche of society's restrictions on his desires—"thou shalt nots." What we take to be our own insight into real good and evil is only a mirror of man-made social laws, according to Freud. Second, the "ego" is not free will but a mere facade. Freud denied the existence of free will, he was a determinist and saw man as a complex animal-machine. Finally, the "id" ("it") is the only real self, according to Freud, and it's comprised simply of animal desires. It is impersonal; thus the name "it." Freud thus is denying the existence of a real personality, individual I-ness. Just as he denied God ("I Am"), he denies God's image, the human "I."

POPSBecause We Don't Need It... We don’t need more debts. Palin spent 15 million on a new sports center in the valley, leaving the small town of Wasilla, Alaska in debt to the amount of 22 million. (That’s 22 million more than the debt she took on when taking on this lovely playtime as mayor.) We don’t need family feuds interfering with duties. I know you feel your ex-brother-in-law was a dick… but trying to get him fired...Sarah? We don’t need another vote against gay marriage. This is just standard every day equal rights being overlooked. Sarah Palin disagrees. We don’t need to overlook global warming. Science can now tell us "Yup. That is happening.” Not my words, that is science speak. Sarah Palin disagrees.

POPSHere Kitty Kitty. . . . .Tasty Kittens Annual Festival Fury over cat eating festival . . . . . . .They believe that eating cat burgers – and fried cat legs and tails – can cure bronchial disease. It is also believed that feline meat serves as an aphrodisiac. The cats are bred especially for this festival – which takes place at the end of September on the Day of Santa Ifigenia. But it has generated fury among animal rights groups.

POPSNot exactly Pro Life “She has been known to kill 40 caribou at a clip. She has shot hundreds of wolves from the air.” (Eve Ensler) Aerial hunting is a method of hunting from an airplane, which gives the hunter an unfair advantage over the animal (I mean, even more unfair than just using a weapon). In addition “animal rights activists call it inhumane, since airborne gunmen rarely get a clean (i.e., relatively painless) kill.” source This lifetime member of the NRA offered cash incentives for hunting wolves. Don't see how anyone could support this

POPSSanteria followers fight for religious freedom Pichardo thought Santeria needed to be more organized to enjoy its full legal rights. He put those rights to the test in the late 1980s, when he tried to open a worship hall in Hialeah. Many of his fellow Cuban-Americans howled in protest. Some said it was Satanic or anti-Christian. They also protested the slaying of animals on the property, and in 1987, the city council passed a law banning "public ritualistic animal sacrifices." The church argued that its constitutional religious rights had been violated, and six years later, the law was struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.

POPSFarmers group objects to livestock tagging on religious grounds The suit (.pdf) mentions various verses from the Book of Revelation. "He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." Revelation 13:16-17

POPSUnited Nations Public Policy!!! Dum dee dum dummmmmmm!!!!
Blamed for about one-fifth of the world’s greenhouse gases, meat production produces the ever-popular ;) methane gas from the flatulence of cattle–something these vegetarians like to say is much worse for the atmosphere than carbon dioxide. Aren’t you merely speculating at best putting forth such bold statements about meat and global warming without any real evidence that makes your point? How can a group like the United Nations stand behind such an extreme position when the foundation for it is so incredibly suspect? Dr. Pachauri spoke at an event held by an animal rights group called Compassion in World Farming which has called on the people of Great Britain to cut their meat consumption in half to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by even more than if they cut their driving in half. In fact, they are pushing for governments around the world to mandate a reduction of meat consumption by upwards of 60 percent by the year 2020. Well, yippee freakin’ skippy!

POPSChange We Can Believe In At last it came time to bake the bread. 'Who will help me bake the bread?', asked the little red hen. 'That would be overtime for me' said the cow. 'I'd lose my welfare benefits,' said the duck. 'I'm a dropout and never learned how,' said the pig. 'If I'm to be the only helper, that's discrimination, ' said the goose. 'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen. She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and in fact, demanded a share. But the little red hen said, 'No, I shall eat all five loaves.' 'Excess profits!' cried the cow. (Nancy Pelosi) 'Capitalist leech!' screamed the duck. (Barbara Boxer) 'I demand equal rights!' yelled the goose. (Jesse Jackson) The pig just grunted in disdain. (Ted Kennedy)

POPSA Traumatized Elephant "Animal rights advocates have long argued that elephants in most zoos lack enough space and, as a consequence, suffer from foot ailments, arthritis and psychological problems. For its part, the zoo association has clung to its traditions, saying the size of an enclosure matters less than the care elephants receive from zookeepers."

POPSHome, Auto of UC-Santa Cruz Vivisectors Set Ablaze Protesters shot themselves in the foot this time. I am an animal nut, I love them. However, this action does not help their cause, it alienates them from the general public ever getting behind them. They may have just dropped the entire movement back 30 years. Even PETA knows better than to do this. For the backlash protest, visit my clips!

POPSAnimal rights: A farm boy reflects Anyone who knows animals, knows that they have individual personalities, often more interesting and more ethical than human personalities. By what right, do we make them suffer before killing them for our own benefit?
