How Did Orlando and Disney Originate?
jacobesmith6
by jacobesmith6  10-25-2008
In early 60s, Walt Disney’s secretly and anonymously bought thousands of acres of farmland, orange groves, and swamp marshes to build a theme park where he envisioned an oasis where travellers could take their families and live out the kind of fantasies he had as a child.

Delta Force officer: US officials stopped plans to kill bin Laden
rmowery
by rmowery  10-7-2008    4
This is the 2nd guy I have heard claim this. The other was a CIA operative who spoke at an event and also has a book. The stories are pretty similar. I guess Bush and crew figured without a bad guy to chase, the war would be short, so let Bin Laden out there so we can expand the war. One reason why I could never take orders - if I had the bad guy in sight - I would take em out!

Friday Night Clip -. BBB issue alert on Worldwide Loan Club
tdsmum
by tdsmum  9-12-2008
What can I say? Off in the distance I hear the sounds of mass clicking of user control panels (user cp) as forum signatures around the traps are replaced with the next big thing. All singalong this will be the one I've waited for la la la. 2008 is full of programs with elaborate descriptions and hype Quite amusing really. Seems to me a more simple one word description causes less problems. A duck is a duck as is a hyip a hyip no matter what frock it is wearing. Or how it is talked up

media coverage of DNC is insane
kroqben
by kroqben  8-26-2008
i'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks so. the article gets part of it, but it misses the whole sycophantic relationship msnbc has with the democratic party. it's nauseating to see olbermann and matthews fellate the party so blatantly. how can any progressive complain about foxnews' support for the gop when msnbc is just as bad? anyway, hillary knocked it out the park tonight - perfect perfect speech.

Fail: More Moldy Barracks for Wounded Soldiers
cptenaud
by cptenaud  8-18-2008
Is it really that hard to square away barracks for the wounded? Given this latest eruption of maintenance incompetence and failure in leadership, I'd just like to direct everyone's attention back to a statement made in April by Brigadier General Dennis Rogers--Director of Operations and Facilities for Installation Management Command--in regard to the Fort Bragg barracks situation: "I'll tell you right now before we even start: I assume responsibility for the shortfalls in barracks maintenance which were referenced in the video by Mr. Frawley. We let our soldiers down. And I note that a number of you are veterans, or most of you are veterans, and you served. So you know that there is no excuse for that. We let our soldiers down." Of course, this statement was made after the much-hyped "nationwide walk-through." So what's the deal now? Can we meet the standard, or what? This is pathetic. What incentive do you give people to enlist when this is what you offer them?

How to Outsmart Spammers
boozich
by boozich  6-11-2008    1
Use a Disposable E-mail Service Services such as Emailias (www.emailias.com) allow you to create a different forwarding address for each site with which you register. Each of these randomly generated addresses is set to forward to your primary address, but with a to: field that allows you to identify where the message came from. If you see that a particular alias has gotten into the hands of spammers, you can turn it off without changing your primary e-mail address

Murdoch Thwarted
Andrew Farrell
by Andrew Farrell  5-12-2008
This is a surprising turn of events. Murdoch was willing to offer $580 million for Newsday because he could combine the paper with his New York Post and save a bunch of money. Dolan's Cablevision lacks the same synergy opportunities with Newsday but he was willing to pay $70 million more. There's no good explanation why so far, but a lot of people are wondering.
