Medvedev: Ready To Respond If U.S. Ends Missile Plan
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  11-16-2008    4
"We hope to create frank and honest relations with the new administration and resolve problems that we were not able to resolve with the current administration," he said. Iran, Iraq, Russia, all have extended a hand of peace towards America. Obama had better not screw up this opportunity to make right some of all Bush's wrongs. As Bush once said: "Either you are with us, or you are against us." If America continues to choose to threaten the security of Europe with their paranoid evil plans, I will know for sure that America is the true enemy of the whole world. Russia are closer neighbours to us, than the US and I for one, (among many others here in Dk), trust them a hell of a lot more, than we'll ever trust America. Get Obama to stop the plans for the stupid paranoid damned missile shield. The ball is in America's court. I hope they play it wisely.

"those who saw... may wonder..." Come on, name a few names. Please don't ascribe opinions to vague groups of people -- who may not even exist. I for one, see the Obama presidency as a clean break from the anti-science, self-interest-driven Bush years. Exaclty what he does and how he does it, I will leave to his creative genius. Along with the smart, ethical, capable and humane people he picks for advisors no matter whom they worked for previously.

United Nations American Agenda
merrie
by merrie  11-10-2008    1
Getting to work during the Obama administration. By Anne Bayefsky President Obama will have what his friends will call an unprecedented opportunity to tie American foreign policy to the U.N. ship of state, lance it down, and sail off into the sunset, never to be separated again. The predicament of the Saudi wife would be an apt comparison. The U.N. apparatus has mapped out the priorities for President Obama’s early days in office (taking it for granted he’ll be hightailing it out of Iraq) Run for election to the U.N. Human Rights Council as a vote of confidence in the U.N. “human rights” apparatus and the ability to change it from the inside. Decide to participate in the Durban II “anti-racism” conference in April 2009, and send along a high-level emissary such as the Secretary of State. Revitalize the Middle East Quartet, which drives the Arab-Israeli conflict through a multilateral prism with the U.N. as a full and equal partner.

Obama's New World Order; "Change" is Required
blueridge
by blueridge  11-9-2008    4
Listen carefully to the words of Obama's symbolic Berlin speech. We know the "war on terrorism" will continue from his debates with McCain, his view of Israel is similar, that the Surveillance State in America will continue to expand (his FISA domestic spying expansion vote), that he will NOT repeal the PATRIOT ACT, Homeland Security, REAL ID, or other anti-constitutional Executive Orders or legislation passed by the Bush-neocon administration. He will make use of the same apparatus for the same "global transformation". "Common security" (for their order ) is still being pled in his speech based upon 9/11. The "new world order" agenda of Social Change (under plea of "common humanity", despite any other distinctions) will be dictated and you will be required to adopt it, like it or not. Listen again. The burdens of global citizenship.....Americans and Europeans will be required to do more; partnership and cooperation is not a choice".

Russia Makes Strategic Counter-Move: "Check"

In response to the Bush/neocon/NATO missile deployment in the region. Obviously this sets the game, and pattern, to see what a President Obama will do. From Obama's debates with McCain we see no evidence of "change" or even acknowledgment of the truth of the Georgia-Russia-S. Ossetia conflict (i.e. Georgia attacked and invaded S. Ossetia first).

I say again, the last thing we need is another liberal neocon in the White House. I wonder how many gun owners and other professing pro-freedom Americans have already fallen victim to McCain's phony conservative campaign? Do they not realize that they are giving a rope to the hangman?

Pakistanis Protest Obama's Position on bin Laden
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  11-3-2008
There is definitely a problem here: the Yanks are coming. After 8 stupid, irresponsible years and wrong-headed, misguided, corrupt and false reasons, Bush will be out of power. His term of office has been like watching someone fall off a roof. His failure to kill or capture bin Laden is one of the worst failures in all our USA history -- and using deliberately fabricated lies to get us into a black hole in Iraq the second worse failure in USA history. Once he's gone all this crud will be wiped away, erased, throw into the rubbish. The new president - with just one ounce of brain-power will right away realize: 'Oh, the criminals of 9/11 still run free and the whole nation want to kill them (or capture them). Even red, red-necks should realize this gross failure, and stop defending Republican incompetence. Now it's is believed bin Laden is in Pakistan. Sorry about that Pakistan. Turn him over or we're going in to get him ourselves. The Yanks ARE coming. Resist

This is a sobering moment in American history. You'll begin with a good deal of popular support, but mandates must be replenished. I suggest you think of the Oval Office as a classroom, and explain to the American people what we need to accomplish and what it will require. Some 21st-century version of the fireside chat is called for. My reading of things is that the American people are ready to be leveled with. Once the campaign is over, let the leveling begin. Video: Bush Might Bomb Iran if Obama Wins
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  10-26-2008
The idea here, some have suggested, is to suggest an anti-war appeal: If Obama is elected war with Iran will start. This incredible twisted suggestion is typical of other new McCain ideas, like he is the one really opposed to Bush policies although he voted for them 90% of the time. The twisted idea, too, that McCain's support for tax breaks for the SuperRich and Corporations is really to help out 'Joe the Plumber,' because the wealth will 'trickle down.' According to this twisted reasoning, McCain is the anti-war in Iran, anti-Bush policy guy, and pro-voice for the Middle and lower classes. ?? Other Republicans also just, seriously, going nuts: that McCain campaign worker who carved a B into her cheek (backwards) and tried to blame it on a "Black pro-Obama mugger." ?? Latest...some Republican arrested for making death threats against the Sec. of State of Ohio (who's in charge of elections) -- because she shut down a Republican attempt at voter suppression. ??

No Friend To Small Business! (Hey Joe!)
sahara
by sahara  10-22-2008    2
At the same time that President Bush backed the $700 billion dollar Wall Street bailout, he continued to dismantle existing federal programs designed to assist American small businesses. During his two terms, President Bush has systematically dismantled each and every program established under the Small Business Act to assist American small businesses, especially those firms owned by women, minorities and veterans. President Bush's anti-small business policies began during his first week as president. The first thing he did to dismantle America's small business programs was to remove the Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) from the President's Cabinet. Then he began to cut the SBA's budget and staffing more than any other federal agency. Since 2003, over a dozen federal investigations have been released, which have all found rampant and government-wide fraud, abuse, loopholes and a blatant lack of proper oversight in federal small business contracting program.

Divisive politics is anti-American-Olbermann
citizenbfk

Good video summary of of the vile and dangerous trash talk of the neocon, neofascist Republican party candidates, officials, and some of their supporters at rallies With thug, un-American tactics they accuse Obama of being 'un-American - and they have done to any other critics of the last eight years of the nightmare of the Bush Administration. What are "un-American," tactics? -- Well, the majority of us think we have the right to speak what we want and not get threatened with death, and the right to challenge leaders who are the real "false patriots," hiding behind the flag or the cross (or David's star). Using words to spread lies, divisiveness, hate and fear is what I'd consider "un-American," I think Bush is a fascist, 4excample, but I don't try to shut down his speaking; I don't threaten his life; I just want to vote him out of office and urge his trial for war crimes. That's using the tool of democracy and seeking justice through the courts.

When running for president in 1999, he aired a television advertisement in New Hampshire that accused George W. Bush of using cocaine. A motion he filed in a 1983 bankruptcy case called the judge “a crooked, slimy Jew who has a history of lying and thieving common to members of his race.”

Rational Disagreement or Rabid Hatred?
darkeforce
by darkeforce  10-12-2008
Click the link to read this entire article; it makes some very good points. Drawing equivalences between right-wingers and left-wingers is not a valid exercise. The Democrats (and Liberals) see their differences from the Republicans (and Conservatives) as a nuanced disagreement of ideals, while Republicans see it as an absolute battle of Good vs. Evil. They aren't opposing Obama because they disagree with his platform; they are against him because they think he's evil. He's been called the Anti-Christ (critical study of Revelations will reveal that he's too old). At rallies, people are screaming to kill him, and cut off his head. It's come to the point where you can't even take it for granted that Republicans accept the fact that Obama is human, just like McCain. This Republican base is acting on a very primitive level, like a lizard-brain, with no critical thought about what they're doing or why they oppose him.

From "War on Terror" to "War of Terror"
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  10-12-2008    1
This war in Afghanistan's not about avenging the 9-11 attacks or preventing new ones. It's about killing local fighters, who fight to rid Afghanistan of unwelcome foreigners from Christian-majority countries. What began as a "War on Terror" has long since become a War of Terror. The Canadians and Europeans have long since tired of it. So have the American people, despite the failure of the corporate media to expose the Big Lies that Cheney and Bush continue to promote in order to justify their Terror War. Seven years down the road, there's no end in sight. No hope except for the "fool's hope" that public opinion in the imperialist countries, plus the inevitable resistance of the Afghans to foreign control, plus the military judgement that the war is not winnable will bring this "good war" to an end. The whole article is worth reading. Clip Song

Palin’s Taking Us Back to "McCarthyism".

The acrimonious language in Palin’s speeches, take us back to "McCarthyism". We've all known that Rightdiculous columnists and their nastier Right-Wing talk radio hacks have been doing this rhetoric for years. And that their ditto heads have been soaking it up, in the comfort of their living rooms, where they shout obscenities and hateful oratory, alone or among their kind. Now McCain’s, VP choice allows them a place IN PUBLIC to caterwaul their Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter induced RAGE. It must be a catharses for the pathetic souls who have been listening and reading the unadulterated animosity coming over air waves or in print, directed at some unknown enemy. They now can UNLEASH the bottled up hatred, in the open and have a recognizable foe, thanks to the self-proclaimed pit-bull. The wingnut goons behind desks or microphones must be MIGHTY PROUD! “HURRAY FOR SARAH PALIN!” they shout. She’s harvesting the grotesque seeds of hatred, we’ve fervently sewn! Moscow calls for anti-U.S. alliance
spirithiker
by spirithiker  10-10-2008
While Russia has insisted it was not intending to supplant NATO, Mr Medvedev made it clear that the US-dominated alliance was partly responsible for the war in the Caucasus by its failure to rein in Georgian "aggression". This is the result of the U.S. throwing its weight around the world for far too long. It is human nature that if one person is constantly directing policy onto everyone else then that person is going to be knocked down for being perceived as a bully. The time has come for the U.S. to relax its role as self appointed world police and let other nations handle their own affairs or we will be “uninvited to the party”. Hopefully, future U.S. presidents will bury this old school ‘might is right’ mentality that Bush/Cheney revitalized when they took office.
