Penelope did try to keep suitors at bay to some extent, but she did have some lovers, and one of them was the god Hermes, who is also written about here, who was also a lover of Aphrodite. These days, i find that like Penelope, all i am doing is weaving an endless tapestry - Penelope wove for some twenty odd years in waiting... but she did take Hermes as a lover, although she was married to Odysseus, he was away (as we know) for a very long time... to say the least.
