"It's a resolution of reconciliation and not retribution...I appreciate it," Joementum is reported as saying. For those of you keeping track of these sorts of things, the Democratic congressional leadership has established that nothing you do, no matter how shitty and disloyal, will get you kicked out of the party. From the same leadership who established the principle that there's no such thing as an impeachable offense, this shouldn't come as a surprise. Seems bass-ackward to me, though -- he loses the seat where he was doing good work and keeps the position where he can do the most harm. This stands a good chance of biting us all in the ass down the road.

POPSPaulson eyes credit cards industry for help If Mr Paulson wanted to help us, all he needed to do was give the the $700 billion back to the tax payers. We know what to do with our money, and you wouldn't have a recession to worry about.

POPSAn open apology to boomers everywhere “We heard the voice of a man who can inspire with his words, who's unashamed of his own intelligence, who's willing to treat the citizens of this country like smart, capable people, worthy of respect.” So unlike Bush and his neo-cons. “For the first time in some of our lifetimes, we believed.” 60’s idealism coming full circle. With a little less violence.

POPSFirst Ever Images From Cockpit of Flight 175 on 9/11 We have decided not to try and match the faces of the terrorists with the photos issued by the authorities for two reasons. Firstly the images displayed are not clear enough to do that conclusively and secondly, some of the terrorists that were shown in the published photographs are believed to be still alive, which questions the reliability of the information. Whilst many questions may still remain regarding the 9/11 attack, we hope that this information will resolve some of them. As always, you must judge for yourself the information we have presented and it is up to you to decide what actually happened on flight 175 just over 7 years ago.

POPS Pre-POTUS More press conferences like yesterday’s, please, in which, a couple months in advance to taking office, he began establishing the nation’s economic policy but dodged any responsibility for foreign policy, delved deeply into traditional Oval Office canine policy … charmingly and disarmingly if surprisingly refering to himself as a “mutt,” almost a Lyndon Johnson scar kind of moment … and in an excess of clever over-thinking himself, insulted a dignified old woman. Meanwhile, he has already achieved pre-sainthood of the sort that one prominent presidential historian notes is usually reserved for the dead ones. Ouch, that’s awkward.

POPSObama Apologizes for Nancy Reagan Joke See? I told you so ... The joke in question: I have spoken to all of them who are living -- I didn't want to get into a Nancy Reagan moment, doing any seances... Not a big deal, if you ask me. But I called it, so I thought I'd follow up.

POPSAfghan president Karzai demands US end civilian casulties "Our demand is that there will be no civilian casualties in Afghanistan. We cannot win the fight against terrorism with airstrikes," Karzai said. "This is my first demand of the new president of the United States - to put an end to civilian casualties."

POPSThanks, Senator Obama! My Transition From Wonk To Star Wasn’t there, perhaps, something more in that sentence? Something that might, you know, accurately portray my views? A little more Googling to find the original story and, yep, there was more. Though the ad ended the non-quote with a period, it should have used an ellipsis. Oddly enough, the rest of the sentence which the ad “disappeared” criticized the Obama tax plan. Of course I’m flattered that the Obama campaign thinks so highly of me that they insist on giving me national exposure. I just wish they had called me first, to verify the information in the ad. I imagine they’re pretty embarrassed now that The Heritage Foundation’s lawyer has notified them that their advertisement is false. In fact, the campaign must be feeling really sheepish about their gaffe. They haven’t worked up the nerve to apologize to me, or even respond to our lawyer’s letter. Perhaps they’re still debating how to set the record straight.

POPSAnd the worst taste in a campaign mailer award goes to... Here's the rest of the story: Local party officials immediately climbed out of the muck to repudiate the piece and apologize, right? Not exactly. In a news release, the party disavowed the Hitler comparison but acknowledged that it had sent the piece out, in its entirety, because it was interesting and "might incite conversation." However, the release went on, "This sort of inflammatory language is neither condoned nor encouraged by our party." Except, that is, when this sort of inflammatory language is, in fact, condoned, encouraged and even distributed by the party. And they're calling him dishonest.

Smedley Darlington Butler (July 30, 1881 – June 21, 1940), nicknamed "The Fighting Quaker" and "Old Gimlet Eye", was a Major General in the U.S. Marine Corps and, at the time of his death, the most decorated Marine in U.S. history. In his 1935 book, War Is a Racket, Butler presented an exposé and trenchant condemnation of the profit motive behind warfare. His views on the subject are well summarized in the following passage from a 1935 issue of "the non-Marxist, socialist" magazine, Common Sense – one of Butler's most widely quoted statements: "I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the r

POPSWoman Calls a Spade a Spade, er.... a Muslim a Muslim Muslim groups protested her statement, calling it hateful racism. Where these groups protesting with their fellow muslims hacked off several heads of innocent victims on video? Nope. Listen. When a person adopts the muslim faith and prays in the mosque, they are muslim for life. Some may change their religion, but in the eyes of fellow muslims, they remain muslim. The fact is Obama was once a muslim in Indonesia. The fact that he joins a black America-hating congregation that purports to be Christian doesn't make him one. This woman is correct. Obama is a muslim socialist. And muslims are our enemies.

POPSObama Censorship Squad Hits Pittsburgh’s KDKA KDKA-AM 1020 host Kevin Miller was silenced when executive producer P.J. Kumanchik read a CBS statement accusing Miller of being unfairly biased against Obama. “We want to apologize to listeners who have found your show offensive,” Kumanchik said to Miller on the air. In the interview with Corsi, Miller revealed his personal concerns about efforts to silence Obama critics. “Well Dr. Corsi, what scares me is, we’ve seen this from the Obama campaign, that they clearly target people such as yourself, talk radio stations - whether it’s WGN or others or people like myself - that speak out,” he said. “And if elected, we’re going to have a different chorus when it comes to discourse in this country.”

POPSJohn McCain: Proud of His Supporters Diane Fedele - a racist blaming Obama for the fact that she is a racist. KFC should sue her for associating their brand with her sick racism. From the Video: When you got a Negro running for President he's definitely a second stringer. Oh John, you must be proud.

POPSThe Camel’s Back: How to Never Explode With Anger Mary Jaksch says: "I’ve talked to many couples who have been on the verge of divorce. The trigger for the rift is often quite insignificant. Or it seems insignificant. That’s because little things can make a big difference." ..." I’m passionate about embracing each moment and living with awareness, joy, and kindness. Ongoing personal growth is the most important thing in life. Because we are born with a huge reservoir of potential. It’s only through personal growth that we can access and develop our full potential."

POPSCitizen Terrorists Deleted "Promising reform to angry legislators, the Maryland police are scrambling not so much to apologize as to notify the 53 that they were falsely deemed terrorists and can inspect their files before the files are purged. The databases were originally intended for anti-drug intelligence, but were misused, officials explained, by zealous, “technologically challenged” commanders. Constitutionally challenged, as well."

POPSMcCain's Double Standard If McCain wants to bash Obama for his occasional appearances on the same board with Ayers, a 1970's political activist who Obama disclaims friendship with, then he needs to examine his admitted long-time friendship to a government operative who was in the thick of the biggest political scandal in American history - and one of the greatest threats to the rule of law, G. Gordon Liddy. Both Ayers and Liddy say they have no regrets for what they did. Both served prison terms for their actions. Liddy, a radio talk show host, gives the advice: "if the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms comes to disarm you, resist them with arms. Go for a head shot, they're going to be wearing bulletproof vests. Kill the sons of bitches." Ayers, since imprisonment, has spent his time helping the poor and disadvantaged. McCain thinks Obama should apologize for associating with a criminal extremist. To which Obama might reply: After you.

POPSJohn McCain's Terrorist Ties Liddy also said he should have recommended shots to the groin instead of the head. If that wasn't enough to inflame any nut cases, he mentioned labeling targets "Bill" and "Hillary" when he practiced shooting. Given Liddy's record, it's hard to see why McCain would touch him with a 10-foot pole. On the contrary, he should be returning his donations and shunning his show. Yet the senator shows no qualms about associating with Liddy -- or celebrating his service to their common cause. How does McCain explain his howling hypocrisy on the subject? He doesn't. I made repeated inquiries to his campaign aides, which they refused to acknowledge, much less answer. On this topic, the pilot of the Straight Talk Express would rather stay parked in the garage. That's an odd policy for someone who is so forthright about his rival's responsibility. McCain thinks Obama should apologize for associating with a criminal extremist. To which Obama might reply: After you.

POPSDemocrat Qualifications Oops, I didn't mean to condescendingly trash white women and call them all baby-making trailer trash. Well, actually I did but now I have to pretend I didn't.
