War Made Easy
LoPhatt
by LoPhatt  8-18-2008
War Made Easy reaches into the Orwellian memory hole to expose a 50-year pattern of government deception and media spin that has dragged the United States into one war after another from Vietnam to Iraq. Narrated by actor and activist Sean Penn, the film exhumes remarkable archival footage of official distortion and exaggeration from LBJ to George W. Bush, revealing in stunning detail how the American news media have uncritically disseminated the pro-war messages of successive presidential administrations.

Death has a MySpace
Imnclady
by Imnclady  8-3-2008
I have known about this site for a while now, I have to say I was shocked at first. I did and still do think it was created to make money, not to respect the dead as they say. I was interested in how people commented about the video. Most of them expressed their feelings or lack there of, or maybe these days its cool to be crude.

abailart
by abailart  7-17-2008    4
Born and raised in London, Nick Brandt studied Film and Painting at St. Martins School of Art. He started photographing in December 2000 in East Africa, beginning the body of work that is his signature subject matter and style. He no longer directs, devoting himself full time to his fine art photography now. Brandt's first book of photographs, "On This Earth", was published in October 2005, by Chronicle Books, with forewords by Jane Goodall and Alice Sebold (author of "The Lovely Bones"). He has had numerous one-man exhibitions between 2004 and 2006, including London, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Hamburg, Santa Fe, Sydney, Melbourne and San Francisco.

Vedanthangal - oldest bird sanctuary in India
hitchhiker08
by hitchhiker08  5-9-2008
Best of all, villagers close to the sanctuary enjoy a symbiotic relationship with the migratory birds. Some have been quoted as saying they don't want any factories to ever come up in the area, as this will scare away the birds - like the birds go out in search of food, so they too (villagers) will go looking for work elsewhere! Their forefathers also helped identify poachers and had the British issue banning orders!

Bill Nye "The Science Guy" hosts a new series that highlights the greatest scientific discoveries of all time, from the earliest time to the present day. The series features nine episodes: Evolution, Earth Sciences, Medicine, Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Genetics and Biology, plus a up episode featuring the top 10 discoveries of all time.  Digital art defines the contemporary. The Los Angeles Center For Digital Art is dedicated to the propagation of all forms of digital art, new media, digital video art, net art, digital sculpture, interactive multimedia, and the vast panorama of hybrid forms of art and technology that constitute our moment in culture. We are committed to supporting local, international, emerging and established artists through exposure in our gallery. We have an ongoing schedule of exhibits and competitions, produce editions of wide format archival prints, and collaborate in the production of digital artworks in our studio. As well we are involved with curating digital exhibits at institutions and festivals outside of the LACDA gallery schedule.

Chinese to assist USA on Korean POWs
righthand
by righthand  2-26-2008
"The deal is expected to be publicly announced on Friday after final talks to work out details, the Pentagon said." Declassified US Army records from the 1950s show that the US knew of and were tracking hundreds of American POWs in China during the Korean War. Between 1996 and 2005, the US conducted DNA and forensics analysis to identify the remains of many of the missing soldiers excavated from various sites in North Korea. But in May 2005 the Pentagon suspended that co-operative effort, saying the North Koreans had created an unsafe environment for US search teams. ...Al-Jazeera
