Blackwater Busted, Prince Has "Compliance Challenges"
blueridge
by blueridge  11-14-2008    8
Makes one smile. The arrogant Prince of Blackwater just got nailed with a big fine from the same corrupt Federal government they contracted with. The "war on terrorism" is so profitable. What happened to all the hardware that ended up on the black market in Iraq? (Someone knows). "Compliance challenges", he says. More like rogue operations. This is the same company that shoots whoever is in the area and quickly leaves, whose crimes even U.S. military personnel have reported. Dirty mercenaries are never held accountable for war crimes because they are independent contractors. This is the least the State Dept has on them, just the tip of the proverbial ice berg. Iraq wants to try them there.

Uganda protests Rwandan arrest

President Kagame on Tuesday angrily protested the arrest, calling it a violation of sovereignty. “We will see how we can challenge such actions, which are simply a question of being arrogant and people being a law unto themselves,” Kagame said after visiting Kabuye in prison yesterday.

When Obama Met Bush, Posturing Caught
blueridge
by blueridge  11-13-2008    2
Flashing back in case you missed it. Obama's actions were very arrogant (even toward Bush) and presumptuous, which says a whole lot about the President elect. Confidence and arrogance are not the same thing. It is natural for one to defend their legitimate authority (Bush) and to treat the presumptuous with hints and reminders if they behave forwardly, especially when the "show is on" (cameras rolling). The power struggle was caught by the lens. Some are smiling more than others. Barack, who claims to be a Christian, shows bad manners here, for Jesus plainly taught about the humble patiently waiting to be "called up" toward the head of the table. Obama is not yet officially President, nor have the White House. This foreshadows a lot! Beware of the humble appearing leader as soon as he assumes power. Finish the proverb, "Absolute power corrupts...." No one in this article mentioned Michelle's "Diva red"--shoulders to toes--while Barack and Bush dressed almost identical.

Arrogant little punks...
Brace4impact
by Brace4impact  11-13-2008
Parents and teachers are making kids arrogant. I'm honestly not surprised. I am, however, curious if the study (mentioned in the whole story) differentiates between public school students and home school students. I'm only curious about that because I'm a home schooled kid and I actually do think I'm smarter than most of my public schooled counterparts.

Godless = Not Acceptable?
AtlLiberal
by AtlLiberal  10-31-2008    7
All the news outlets pass over the obvious and by doing so reinforce the common idea that being godless is somehow something to be used as a weapon to defame people. A thinking person should first ask what is wrong with being an atheist? Instead we see most people accept the premise that it is simply wrong and leave it at that. That, in and of itself, is arrogant, prejudicial, and hateful.

Stevens (R-Alaska) Convicted On All Counts
ratilfar
by ratilfar  10-27-2008    3
"Despite being a convicted felon, he is not required to drop out of the race or resign from the Senate. If he wins re-election, he can continue to hold his seat because there is no rule barring felons from serving in Congress. The Senate could vote to expel Stevens on a two-thirds vote. "Put this down: That will never happen _ ever, OK?" Stevens said in the weeks leading up to his trial. "I am not stepping down. I'm going to run through and I'm going to win this election." The arrogance.

The story of 'Eric'
mugofcoffee
by mugofcoffee  10-25-2008    2
Ultimately, Eric revealed 27 different personalities, including three females, one of whom was gay. The ages of these personalities ranged from a fetus to a sordid old man who wanted Eric to fight in Haiti as a mercenary. During one therapy session lasting an hour, Eric shifted personalities nine times. Most of the personalities interacted with one another. One personality named Cye was a religious mystic who left comforting notes for Eric. Michael, a pushy young man who loved rock music, hated Eric's classical music so much that he tore out the wires to the stereo. One of the personalities was a librarian named Max who would signal an imminent personality changed by saying, "One of the books just fell off the shelf." How cruel it is to have a life like that?

Barack Obama Criticizes Fox News: Neil Cavuto Takes Exception
merrie

aying 'I am convinced that if there were no Fox News I might be 2 or 3 points higher in the polls.' He goes on to say, 'If I were watching Fox News I wouldn't vote for me, right? Because the way I'm portrayed 24/7 is as a freak. I am the latte-sipping, New York Times-reading, Volvo-driving, no-gun-owning, effete, politically arrogant liberal. Who wants somebody like that?' Of course, just because we challenge some of your economic assumptions senator, we say nothing about whether you like lattes or not. Um, it's just putting up with a little bit of the heat that maybe you're not getting in the media kitchen."

Palin and Her Followers are frightening
oscarrob
by oscarrob  10-12-2008    1
I think that says that you abused your power, if I read correctly. This kind of parsing of words is disingenuous in the extreme. It is also either arrogant or stupid to suggest someone read the report knowing they will find Finding Number One. It is hard to believe that John McCain can be trusted with anything if he is suggesting that we should trust Sarah Palin. Someone who abuses her power by using it to further her personal ends in the context of her sister’s nasty divorce, and sees nothing wrong with it, frightens me. Its like the Mafia, don’t cross a family member, your livelihood and your reputation could be in danger. But then, this is what frightened me about the Bush/Cheney Texas Mafia, so I guess I’m just a weenie.

Bush the arrogant
Kelika
by Kelika  9-28-2008    3
Politically, these developments raise two questions: Which candidate to succeed Bush benefits most by the events of recent weeks? And which candidate, if either, would have the strength to roll back these expansions of presidential power if elected?" "These are not abstractions. They are the legacy of this grim epoch, one that should be equally offensive to conservatives and liberals. George Bush promised humility and delivered arrogance. The next president must not."

U.S. Corporations are Ugly Americans
spirithiker
by spirithiker  9-26-2008    1
American corporations pay foreign countries for rights to extract oil, gas, and minerals from within their borders. Those governments have done nothing to regulate oil company practices that pollute the environment and otherwise endanger the lives of local residents. The Bush administration, in their typically arrogant, misguided, neocon, "corporations-can-do-no-wrong" attitude, have turned a blind eye to how U.S. corporations (as representatives of our country) have done little to provide for the locals needs and security. The security for these U.S. corporations are local military who use villagers as forced laborers and freely rape local women and children. U.S. corporations, stalwarts of democracy and human rights that they are, also turn a blind eye as long as they can keep their bottom line healthy.
