Now they won't have to kick him out. Bonus, Sarah Palin's hopes that she gets to appoint Steven's successor goes down a series of tubes. Still, what does this say about the average Alaskan? Stevens is a convicted felon. It shouldn't even have been close. Republicans are so freakin' crazy up there that they'd rather re-elected a prison-bound criminal than a Democrat. Now those are partisan blinders.

POPSCalifornia Prop. 8 Challenges SAN FRANCISCO - The likelihood of a final California Supreme Court showdown over same-sex marriage increased dramatically Monday when Attorney General Jerry Brown and the pro-Proposition 8 campaign urged the justices to decide whether the voter-approved ballot measure is constitutional.

POPSAdmirals, generals: Let gays serve openly The issue of gays in the military became a flash point early in the Clinton administration as Clinton tried to fulfill a campaign promise to end the military's ban on gays. His efforts created the current compromise policy — ending the ban but prohibiting active-duty service members from openly acknowledging they are gay. But it came at a political cost. The resulting debate divided service members and veterans, put Democrats on the defensive and provided cannon fodder for social conservatives and Republican critics who questioned Clinton's patriotism and standing with the military.

POPSCongressman likens Dear Leader to Hitler "We can't be lulled into complacency," Broun added. "You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I'm not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I'm saying is there is the potential."

POPSThe Surprising Success of the Associated Press There are relatively few success stories in early 21st-century journalism, especially in the newspaper sector. It's interesting--and, to someone who cares about reported journalism, something of a relief--that the Associated Press is still doing so well.

POPSCome out and defend yourself If this isn't what Obama has in mind I would like to hear him say it to the whole country. President Bush had ot come out regularly to defend the Patriot Act against criticisms that abuse would occur (which didn't by the way.)

POPSConvicted Felon Leads in Alaska's Senate Race The voters are corrupt. “It is said that power corrupts, but actually it's more true that power attracts the corruptible. The sane are usually attracted by other things than power.” - David Brin “each candidate behaved well in the hope of being judged worthy of election. However, this system was disastrous when the city had become corrupt. For then it was not the most virtuous but the most powerful who stood for election, and the weak, even if virtuous, were too frightened to run for office.” - Machiavelli

POPSMy Beautiful Blue Indiana! I am so pleased that the majority of voters in my home state of Indiana chose Obama over McCain! It has been an exciting election for us Hoosiers, who normally get little attention due to the assumption that Indiana is a dyed-in-the-wool red state. Well, not any more! Woo hoo! I was one of the Hoosiers who cast an absentee ballot this year. :)

POPSAfghan president Karzai demands US end civilian casulties "Our demand is that there will be no civilian casualties in Afghanistan. We cannot win the fight against terrorism with airstrikes," Karzai said. "This is my first demand of the new president of the United States - to put an end to civilian casualties."

POPSMassachussets Loves Taxation, unlike 1776 This is sure not 1776 in Boston. Instead of fighting against taxes and throwing Tea Parties they vote down income tax repeal like it would threaten their existence instead of extend their freedom. Just shows what happens when taxes are used to buy votes.

POPSA million rally to Chicgo to celebrate Obama Victory?
In four hours the polls close and the level of excitement is building beyond belief and anyone's experience. Some have said there will be a million people going to Chicago for election night madness and celebration. 70,000 tickets to Obama's planned Victory Speech at Grant Park were gone in a hour. All fireman are on call. All police are on call and both told the have their max equipment on hand. Hospitals too have beefed up staff. Secret Service protection measures also to the max. It's reasonable to expect 'mischief,' or something in a probably the largest crowd gathered for a political event in U.S. history. But - Republicans are continuing their smear tactics to the very end, saying their are worries about black riots if Obama loses, etc., hitting the stereotype of blacks as criminals and threats -- instead of voters. We'' need to 'purify,' ourselves after this election; then move forward. Goosebumps . Jitters.. YouTube report: http://www.youtube.com/watch

POPS"We ate (human) flesh to survive" continues: Famished and dehydrated They tried to sustain themselves on rain and seawater as they bobbed for days on the open waters, far off their original course. Famished and dehydrated, the survivors watched migrant after migrant die, each time dutifully waiting 15 to 20 minutes before throwing the body overboard. Eating those who perished was not an idea that came easily, the recuperating fisherman said. "But imagine, 15 days without food, without water. I'm a sailor, a fisherman — they were all yelling at me to do something," he said. "I always try to be prepared, so I had brought my knife along," he said. "We hadn't brought food because it was supposed to be a quick trip. We had nothing to eat. We had to eat him, to save our own lives." Maria Marizan and other migrants from the Dominican Republic know just how dangerous it can be to make the 160-mile journey across the Mona Passage to the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico.

POPSCatholics Probe Aid Directed To ACORN In June, the Catholic Church froze a $1.2 million grant for 38 ACORN chapters after the community-organizing group was accused of voter fraud in 15 states. State elections officials and the FBI are questioning ACORN workers who submitted voter registration forms signed by Mickey Mouse and members of the Dallas Cowboys football team in their efforts to register voters in low-income neighborhoods, many of whom tend to favor Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama. Mr. Obama once worked with ACORN as a community organizer and lawyer in Chicago. "While there is value in registering low-income voters, I am concerned that the whole ban on partisanship has been violated," Ralph McCloud, the new executive director for the CCHD, said Monday. Mr. McCloud said he could not reassure Catholics that the funds donated before 2008 were not used in voter fraud. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/nov/04/catholics-probe-aid-directed-to-acorn/

POPSVeterinary Whistleblowers Don't Win We think we are protected by Whistle blower laws, but Universities have lots of attorneys and they have protections or immunities. The University veterinarians have a really tough job. Whistle blowers rarely come out well.

POPSAunt made illegal contributions to Obama's campaign Acorn, this... many interesting words seem to be flowing next to the 'chosen one' - illegal, immoral, greedy, ignorant (since he didn't know about any of these events, people etc.) and that's just 4... or is it 3 (I'll have to check with Biden on this one).
