POPSBrooke Astor would have been 'mortified' by son's trial The trial is likely to resuscitate the tabloid feeding frenzy, which has fostered headlines such as "Bad heir day," "Mrs. Astor's disaster" and "DA's kick in the Astor." It's not the way those closest to Astor want to remember her. And the disclosures expected to spill forth from the witness stand aren't the type that Astor, who died in August 2007 at 105, would want shared in public. "She would have been mortified," said Vartan Gregorian, a longtime friend and president of the Carnegie Corporation of New York. "She was very private."

POPSPanics & Crashes A year after that, the American economy collapsed from top to bottom. ... American staple prices and land values dropped by anywhere from 50 to 75 percent; and backward the dominos fell, from ruined speculator to merchant farmer. ... "Early in 1819, pushed by Astor and Girard, the bank's directors finally dismissed Jones and replaced him with the South Carolinian Langdon Cheves. Yet, for the national economy, his timing and the extent of his actions could not have been worse, ... turning what might have been a sharp recession into a prolonged and disastrous depression. POPSUS Control of internet remains issue
" The domain name system is controlled by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, over which the US Government retains Veto power...By controlling core systems the United States indirectly influences the way much of the world uses the internet. " Four words make that statement a Dangerous euphemism 'core,''Veto,' 'indirectly,' and 'much' In view of the word core, replace veto, with monopoly, indirectly with directly, much with all. It's a control issue, and the retention of a veto in what was supposed to be a free system is a contradiction. There is no body with the power to overrule. Essentially, the 'US' must cede control. but when everyone is the 'enemy' including the general public how likely is that. How many of the over 17,500 three letter combinations have been registered? What scope is there for an alternate/pirate system? What if Non US internet organizations decided to ignore the veto? Does the internet have the capacity to operate beyond central control?

POPS105 foot Dinosaur unearthed in Argentina. Love the name Futalognkosaurus dukei Mapuche indian word for giant/chief. The Duke is an energy Co, It was big, but mainly around the middle but it also had a very long neck and tail. The skeleton was one of the most complete ever found. When I saw the Indian word for giant, I wondered why the English words big, giant, and titan seemed to be so small by comparison. Of course English is a weird language.
