POPSWV charlatan to be examined by US Supreme Court Don Blankenship, CEO of WV's Massey Energy Co., which has a criminal record of over 5,000 counts, has been fined for employee deaths and waterway pollution, DB was seen in Monte Carlo with a WV Supreme Ct judge while appealing a $50 million judgment to the court (judge later recused himself), has another judge on the court who got $3 million from DB to get elected, who refused to recuse himself from the appeal, and the $50 M fine was shot down 3-2. Ah, but now the US Supreme Court has decided it will look over an appeal to the case challenging the judge's presence. Do you suppose justice might prevail in WV? DB has spent over $6 million to elect Republicans in WV.

POPSPublic defenders refuse new cases Citing unethical level of defense that results from huge caseloads. I have personally seen how egregiously unjust our justice system can be toward people without means to hire attorneys. They are virtually helpless, and an unethical prosecutor looking for votes can chew them up and spit them out for personal gain.

POPSNader's Open Letter to Obama Could it be that in your state Senate record, your U.S. Senate record and your presidential campaign record (favoring nuclear power, coal plants, offshore oil drilling, corporate subsidies including the 1872 Mining Act and avoiding any comprehensive program to crack down on the corporate crime wave and the bloated, wasteful military budget, for example) you have shown that you are their man?

POPSWho's Getting Rich Off Prohibition? Just Look Who Opposes CA's Prop. 5 Making money as the only motivation for people doing anything is NOT a good system, there has to be much more to life than just money!!! Helping people gets help in return and makes people helpful too and more willing to work together. And who wants drug addicts in prison where drugs are also available instead of being out on the streets getting help to drop the habit? The drug peddlars should be in prison, not the addicts.

POPSDelay in highly anticipated trial of Turkish Ultra-nationalists The court adjourned the trial until October 23 to work out the logistics of accommodating such a large number of defendants, along with their attorneys, and cope with the swelling desire of the press and general public to observe the proceedings. The Ergenekon case came to light last June, when 27 hand grenades matching those used in a 2006 attack on the Istanbul office of the independent daily newspaper Cumhuriyet were discovered in the home of a retired Turkish army officer. The subsequent investigation led to the detention and interrogation of scores of journalists, military officers, politicians, alleged gang leaders, and security officials.

POPSThey can't be serious Mickey Mouse is registered, Cinderella is voting. ACORN is giving out cigarettes to homeless men to register and vote for THEIR candidate and somehow the GOP is to blame for voter suppression. I tell you what, produce Mickey Mouse and I will give you the benefit of the doubt.

POPSWhat's behind the Feds' ACORN probe? In the last election, it was the runup to firing of US Attorney who wouldn't prosecute ACORN on bad evidence and got fired for it. Now the Bush DOJ has relaxed the rules to make doing so just before an election OK.

POPSThe Republican War on Voting (& DOJ firings)
This article is a good overview of Republican tactics to suppress the vote and exactly what they are doing now with challenging ACORN's voter registration efforts. Be Aware: This is not an overnight or one season campaign; it started seriously focused on ACORN back in 2000 and it's intention is to eventually see this group put out of business. This case in MO also shows the link in the Republican illegal firing of U.S. Attorneys, which led to DA Gonzales having to resign last year and is a case being pursued by the FBI. In summary, as clipped here, the Republicans fired state DA's who wouldn't play along with them and go along with these voter challenges. Two more points: ACORN is not a Democratic or Obama organization but targeted by Republicans because they advocate for poor and minority interest. #2 Since Voting Day has not arrived there can not even be any voter fraud yet -- nobody's voted. All this propaganda is about registration forms & stupid, Mickey Mouse nonse
