POPS Myanmar's fascist junta extends Suu Kyi house arrest Those who showed their incompetence to aid the cyclone victims, proving their determinism to oppress Myanmar people. If this knave, filthy junta still holds the power and dares to extend Suu Kyi's arrest arrogantly, only one thing can be said: Shame on the world.

POPS Buddhist Monks Return To Streets In Burma Hundreds remain in jail, according to diplomats, although the junta on Wednesday released seven people, including members of Aung San Suu Kyi's opposition National League for Democracy (NLD)

POPS Pulling Back From The Brink The Security Council, the only UN body with the authority to enforce its demands, has never considered action against Burma for fear of drawing China’s veto. China, a major trading partner with Burma, has historically been reluctant to censure other countries’ human rights records.

POPSNobel Peace Prize Al Gore-5/2 Burmese Sangha-5/1? Award Burmese Monks Nobel Peace Prize online petition http://www.petitiononline.com/nobel007/petition.html "What has Algore done for world peace? My "vote" goes for the Burmese Sangha" The dignified spirituality, the refusal of alms, the passive submission to torture and even death at the hands of a jackbooted military—those wily sangha are pulling every cheap stunt in the Peace Prize playbook. The smart money still says Gore will win, but what chance does a former vice president of the United States—one who, while more or less running environmental policy for President Clinton, yapped endlessly about the problem and sacrificed not a penny of political capital to help solve it—have against thousands of bald-headed guys waving empty bowls over their heads?

POPSMyanmar Junta names liason to Suu Kyi The people have a leader Aung San Suu Kyi, and the Junta know it, The monks gave them courage, and while imprisoned still represent the freedom of Myanmar. How can the chains of oppression be broken, when people remember no other way? They need reminders like the monks and Suu Kyi to encourage them and strengthen their belief that they deserve freedom. They also need support, even if it is only messages of support, of the common people of the world.

POPSInternet access cut in Myanmar Without being an expert in how international affairs like this should be dealt with, I know that i've recently witnessed the military of one or more countries entering other countries to initiate change. Does the current situation in Myanmar not warrant this type of action!!?? Do the people of Myanmar not deserve some kind of outside help!!??

POPSNothing happens by change in politics! There hasn't been a sniff of detail about why these peaceful monks are protesting after so long under oppression. Then you have some many countries presidents making speeches at the UN (bush, sarkozi, admadinejad etc...) all while these protests are going on. Their speeches contained references to the situation in Burma. Now, if this didn't not arise, what would have they talked about on such a stage?. Surely they prepare their speeches well in advance? I decided to do a little googling to see what might appear as to the real reason why the monks are calling for democracy in Burma. State sponsorship came to the fore. Nothing happens by chance in politics
