POPSNobel Peace Prize Misused And if they give it to a gasbag like Algore and the "Never Met A Palestinian Terrorist I Didn't Love" Carter - then we know they are not following Nobel's wishes.

POPSNew hyperspace engine could roundtrip Mars in 5 hours The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics awards prizes for the best papers presented each year. Last year’s winner went to a paper authored by physicist Jochem Hauser, calling for experimental tests of Heim’s theory. “This hyperdrive motor,” Hauser said, “would propel a craft through another dimension at enormous speeds. It could reach a star eleven light years away in just eighty days.”

POPSField biologist George Schaller to receive 2008 Indianapolis Prize "Dr. Schaller turns 75 in May and shows no signs of slowing down. He has worked for months on the Tibetan Plateau at altitudes of 16,000 feet and more; traveled remote, war-torn areas of Afghanistan; and, in 2006, revisited the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the site of one of his early forays into the wild in 1956 and the start of his lifelong devotion to conservation." "In recognition for his lifetime achievements, Dr. Schaller will receive $100,000 and the Lilly Medal at a gala ceremony presented by the AES Corporation and hosted by award-winning actress and environmentalist Jane Alexander on Sept. 27, 2008, in Indianapolis." "True to his view of working with locals and an eye on the future, Schaller plans to use the Prize money to give grants to young biologists in their own countries enabling them to gain experience in wildlife research and conservation." Thank you, Dr. Schaller!

POPSNOBEL HYPOCRICY ALFRED NOBEL REMADE HIS IMAGE, NOW HIS AWARD IS USED TO POLISH THE IMAGE OF MANY OTHER HYPOCRITS. POLITICS IS A RACKET. WAR IS A RACKET. THE UN DOES NOTHING TO BRING GLOBAL PEACE. EVERY ALPHABET AGENCY IS A FRONT & THEIR REAL PURPOSE IS THE OPPOSITE THAT THEY PUBLICALLY PROCLAIM. AND SO IT GO'S... Reminds me so much of the recent 'cultural diversity award' given to tyrant in Kazakstan. And what was his 'achievement'??? Boiling a human beings to death. The photo of the body i saw still haunts me. Burned up to his chest. Psyhopaths give each other awards. Pat each other on the back. Bush tells Brownie he's doing a great job in Katrina. What are their awards and accolades... but just more lies. Only the blind could not see through the lies and hypocricy. Least we could do is hold the mirror up to the hypocrits faces, and make certain they know we are not buying the cheap illusions. True nobility or virtue rarely takes place in elite circles. Power corrupts absolutely.

POPSScots Rightfully Proud of Indianapolis 500 Winner Franchitti Apparently the rain was in his favor. The Scots' First Minister congratulated Franchitti and added that the "characteristically Scottish weather may have aided him to victory". :D An added romantic touch to his victory: "Oblivious to the ongoing downpour, his wife, the Hollywood actress, Ashley Judd, walked to greet him barefooted and soaked through. The scene could easily have passed muster as the closing frames to one of her own films."

POPSFull List of Grammy Winners More winners on the site, complete list. As another clip said, they certainly came back after being shunned for "Bush-whacking."

POPS2007 Weblog Awards: Vote by Friday Feb 2nd Deadline More categories and info at the source. Apparently this is a coveted award, since most of the weblogs I checked out mentioned that they had been nominated and encouraged the reader to vote for them. It's very simple to vote; the hard part is choosing which weblog to vote for in each category. :D

POPSRobotic baby harp seal used for therapy in Japanese nursing homes Robots to help care for the elderly and the disabled--good idea. My Spoon looks useful, but the whole idea of it, and the need for it, depresses the hell out of me. I guess that other people have more of a will to live than I do, and thus will welcome such a robotic spoon feeder. I'm happy for them, but this is not for me.

POPSQuill Book Award Winners 2006 The Quill Awards pair a populist sensibility with Hollywood-style glitz and have become the first literary prizes to reflect the tastes of the group that matters most in publishing-readers. The Quills, an initiative launched with the support of Reed Business Information, is designed to be an industry qualified "consumers choice" awards program for books, honoring the current titles readers deem most entertaining and enlightening. The Quills celebrates the best books of the year in nineteen popular categories, ranging from romance to biography to graphic novels.

POPSWill Eisner: The Genius of American Comics I wanted to clip some of Will Eisner's works but of course they are copyrighted and not available online. But I recommend everyone: please buy and do read all of Eisner's graphic novels. He (passed away in January 2005) was the genius of American comics and in his works you can find the "human elements" of the American history and the Jewish culture with all its great and warm details. Especially " A Contract With God ", "The Building", " Dropsie Avenue ", "Fagin the Jew", " To the Heart of The Storm " and "The Invisible People" are highly recommended. For a detailed bio of Eisner, click here , and for his official home page, click here . Do yourself a favor and go meet this great story-teller and artist, if you haven't already.
