POPSEarth would be heading to a freeze without CO2 emissions The chill would induce a long, stable period of glaciation in the mid-latitudes, smothering Europe, Asia and North America to about 45-50 degrees latitude with a thick sheet of ice. However, there is now so much CO2 in the air, as a result of fossil-fuel burning and deforestation, that this adds a heat-trapping greenhouse effect that will offset the cooling impacts of orbital shift, said Crowley. "Even the level that we have there now is more than sufficient to reach that critical state seen in the model," he said. "If we cut back some, that would probably still be enough." In September, a scientific research consortium called the Global Carbon Project (GCP) said that atmospheric concentrations of CO2 reached 383 parts per million (ppm) in 2007, or 37 percent above pre-industrial levels. Present concentrations are "the highest during the last 650,000 years and probably during the last 20 million years," the report said.

POPSNuclear smackdown in New Europe
Medvedev also sees the war in South Ossetia as symptomatic of a larger and more deeply-rooted problem. Medvedev: “A barbaric aggression against South Ossetia and the global financial crisis – two very different problems which nevertheless have common traits and a common origin...A local reckless enterprise provoked a rise of tensions far behind the region’s borders, in the whole of Europe, in the whole world. It called into question the efficiency of international security institutions and practically destabilized the basics of the world order. The lessons of mistakes and crises of 2008 proved to all the responsible nations that it is the time to act, and it is necessary to radically reform the political and economic system." Medvedev is right. The present architecture for global security needs to be thoroughly revamped as does the global financial system. Unilateralism, preemption and the Bush Doctrine have only made the world a more dangerous place. So, too, Wall Street's disp

POPSThe Black Moon On the picture above we see the elliptic orbit of the Moon and the (illusionary) elliptic orbit of the Sun around the Earth. The Black Lights are mathematically calculated points and are deducted from the position and distance of the Moon and Sun towards the Earth.

POPSWho Lends to the US? mint.com gives an interesting graphic demonstration of how much the US owes, and to whom. I was interested to find Brazil on the list, right after OPEC. Speaking of OPEC, read the part about two "Axis of Evil" nations being on the list of lenders to the US. Scary.

POPS A Political Trojan Horse
There is ample reason for their distrust and it strikes at the very core of why he is viewed by so many as the Stealth Candidate. Due to these collaborations it is highly unlikely that Obama could obtain the necessary clearance for a position in his own Secret Service security detail. There is a disturbing pattern here. Obama consistently funneled money from the foundations of which he was either Chairman or a board member to radical, left-wing, political causes that would support him and would increase his voter base. If you can now recognize at last his clear preference for America-haters and venal influence peddlers then, at a stroke, you have grasped the pure essence and core beliefs of Obama. Obama is the most synthetically manufactured and stage-managed candidate of our time. He is an impostor and that is why we oppose him with every fiber of our being; that is why he deserves our enmity; that is why he is a clear and present danger to our constitutional republic

POPSKiarostami - the godfather of Iranian cinema Looking at Tazieh clearly invites westerners to step into Iranians' shoes. "Of course, I feel pain when I see that my country is considered evil," he says. "So in all my films, my wish is to give a kinder and a warmer image of human beings and of my country. Every morning, when I wake up, I have to say hello to my neighbours. And this is what I like to show in my films: friendship, love between people".

POPSHummingbird Photos and Some Surprising Facts This incredible flying ability makes hummingbirds one of the most fascinating birds to watch. You'll catch sight of a wild hummingbird in the Americas -- anywhere from Alaska to Brazil. Some Mexican hummingbirds will migrate north for spring, flying up to 500 miles in 20 hours without a break . Hummingbirds almost never stop moving, and they spend nearly all of their time in the air. Their legs are so small and weak, they typically can't walk at all. But in the air, they're masters. Hummingbirds beat their wings up to 80 times a second, which creates the soft humming sound that earns them their name . Their heart can beat up to 1,300 times per minute while in flight . All of this lightning-fast beating takes its toll: Hummingbirds have to eat every couple of minutes. They consume enormous amounts of pollen, using a string-thin, long tongue to draw pollen out of deep flowers.
