POPSEmployer Based Benefits: An Eroding Model For Health Insurance During her pregnancy, Jennifer Danylyshyn's regular visits to her obstetrician were covered by her Blue Shield policy. So was the delivery of Ava on March 24. The couple expected that Ava would be covered as a matter of course. When the company rejected the baby because of the hip misalignment, her parents appealed with the help of their pediatrician. Blue Shield refused to budge.

POPSWhat I Like About Palin by David Warren The Ottawa Citizen I cannot think of better illustrations of the way women and blacks are reduced to stereotype by the American media, and all the other institutions of "political correctness." We see the same thing up here in Canada, with respect to women and our "visible minorities." They must not deviate from a script in which every female role model is a feminist and abortion enthusiast, every "visible" the heroic victim of oppression, demanding societal compensation. How better to cripple the individual aspirations of women and minorities? To them, the stark facts of Ms. Palin's reaction to a Down's syndrome pregnancy, and to her daughter's unseasonable one, shines as day to night against Mr. Obama's, "If my daughter makes a mistake, I don't want her punished with a baby." But there is good news, which comes through Sarah Palin herself, who, from what I can see, is ready for the trial-by-ordeal.

POPSHow many have you bedded? Truth? Experts have most often concluded that it comes down to cultural attitudes: men are brought up to emphasise their ability as an almighty sexual conqueror, while women are encouraged to present themselves as virginal and untouched. For relationships expert Tracey Cox, the question of how many people someone has slept with is "the most pointless question of all, because it takes out the emotion, and it takes out the circumstance. And also, unconsciously, people lie. Men multiply the number by two, while women divide it by three. Women tend to attach more emotional significance to sex, and so we might not remember one-night stands, or relationships that weren't significant. If the sex wasn't significant, we won't remember it." ...Guardian

POPSWhen To Have A Child? A New Approach To The Decision The example of a 20-year-old college student illustrates the situation when a woman claims she does not want to have a child until she reaches a certain age, say 35 years old. The model suggests that, especially in cases where both family life and career are important to the woman, having a child much earlier may be a better long-term solution than waiting until she is more established in her career.

POPSBaby Cribs Recalled I realize the article is focusing more on the lawsuit, but I am using this as a springboard for parents to learn about the recall and the model number (see article) to better protect themselves and their family. I don't even think about how devastated I would have been had something horrific happened to my daughters. This is just something sad for the parents that lost their children, and something preventable for other parents.

POPSShould My Child Get Involved in Modeling? Child modeling is a delicate subject. The dramatic and rather frightening news coverage puts up some big red flags but with the right attitude and good, information it can be a blessing to a family.
