POPSA Cardiac Arrest And A Better Doctor "When I first encountered Mrs. Cheever, she was near death, unconscious, gray skin, gray hair, gray eyes. I had considered it cruel to be resuscitating this 89-year-old. Seeing her now, conversing and alert, with hopes for the future, was a lesson more powerful than any I could ever have found in a book or lecture. From that point on, I no longer considered a patient's age as a determinant of the care they should receive. Instead, my newly acquired reverence for elderly patients became a steady source of joy and pride that has lasted throughout my career."

POPSAirline Fees Here to Stay This article dispels any notion that the airlines might be persuaded to roll back fees now that the price of oil is dropping. Their logic? Air travel has been a stagnant business for years and unbundling -- or charging for what was once free -- is breathing new life into the airline business.

POPSAmerican Air Said It Will Waive Baggage Fees For U.S.Military Tom Del Valle, American's senior vice president of airport services said Wednesday "after recently, hearing of the burden the military reimbursement process put on soliders traveling to war zones, the choice for us to forego payment for a third check bag from the Department of Defense was clear." After all, the name of the corporation is American.

POPSJust Tell Me How Much it Costs I have to say I understand why Delta needs to increase its fees - fuel costs have made it difficult for airlines to stay in business. As a consumer however, all of these fees are confusing. I'd rather have them just increase the fare to compensate for higher fuel costs. Or on their website, add these factors into their search criteria so I can see what my total cost would be based on all of the factors. Right now it's confusing, and as much as they put disclaimers out there, people will continue to get surprised at the airport with these extra fees.

POPSGut Check Time for White Americans The Wright affair has such resonance in this campaign because Wright has shown himself to be the kind of black person that white people don't like. He brings out our prejudices. Yes, I said "our" prejudices. Part of it is Wright's ignorance and part of it is his arrogance and part of it is that he talks louder than white people would prefer and part of it is that he uses the sing-song cadence they associate with other black ministers they have grown to hate over the years such as Jesse Jackson. Obama is none of those things (OK, maybe a little arrogant at times), so Wright has been brought to the forefront as a substitute punching bag.

POPSI Need a Virtual Break... No, Really. This movement to unplug appears to be gaining traction everywhere How about turning off the screen one day a week? “Living a good life requires a kind of balance, a bit of quiet." Unplug yourself once in a while. I am a total addict and the first thing I do in the morning, is to check emails too, while having my morning coffee. Being offline is almost unthinkable, even for a day, but I will work on it, starting tomorrow... or maybe the next day.
