POPSPUTTING BAND AID ON CANCER Piecemeal as a way to repair this screwed-up economic system- this time suggested by Dems, what a joke. We need radical surgery not band-aids

POPSOPEC strangling American economy I can't really agree with this. Our Congress has done more to "strangle" us than any foreign agency. IF we allow this to continue, we will be the object of our enemies manipulation and blackmail. Like every other *serious* issue, Congress has sat on it's hands for several decades...promoting band aid solutions instead of acting responsibly to make us energy independent. Lay the blame where it belongs; at the Halls of Congress.

POPSShopaholics: More to Come As the economy lags for those normally able to buy some "extras", the impulse to shop may be a natural response...even if it is self-defeating.

POPS$20m for schools 'pitiful' Parents have been conned into believing that school is of secondary concern to the more immediate needs of food, shelter and clothing. Govts take the attitude that as long as they do enough to prevent the outbreak of hepatitis, or similar, they won't be sued. Keep the slave class down at all costs

POPSA Valentine Gift For America
It's been a long time since I've felt inspired by a presidential race. Not since JFK, and I was too young to vote for him. Like Kennedy I get a chill and teary eyed when Obama speaks. It's been a long time but it feels good. So to those who, still possess hope. Hope that our country can survive the disunion brought about by so many administrations. We've been blinded by insincere words and lies. The band-aid cures diagnosed by those at the top who seem to think war is the answer to any problem. We now have a chance to put all this behind us. I hope we grasp this opportunity. We may not get another one! Barack Obama, knows he can't do this alone. He doesn't say, he's the decider so you can go shopping. He tells us, he needs our help, because we are all the grown-ups in this problematic life. We all need to pitch in if we want to save our standing in this world. I think I'm in love again, love for my country. Happy Valentine's Day '08! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWcw2OEyhXI

POPSCash Infusion Needed For Bond Insurers To Maintain Their Top Credit Rating <UPDATE>Bond insurers may need up to $200 billion to remain viable, according to analysts, and a government-brokered rescue effort described as being worth $15 billion was dismissed as a Band-Aid. A cash infusion would allow the bond insurers to maintain their top credit rating, which is critical to their business of guaranteeing trillions of dollars of municipal bonds and asset-backed securities.

POPSDrought funding: addressing climate change? The latest funding gives farmers more access to drought funding by easing the income/ assets test, and boosting support for rural-dependent small businesses. The relief package shows the extent to which rural families are hurting; some will be forced to leave the land but they can now do so with some dignity. Taxpayers should be saying to the Government, "we want this money allocated in the context of a framework about how we are going to address the long-term future of agriculture" and climate change.

POPSGI's in Iraq no longer True Believers From the article: Safstrom, for example, comes from a thoroughly military family. His mother and father have served in the armed forces, as have his three sisters, one brother and several uncles. One week after the Sept. 11 attacks, he walked into a recruiter's office and joined the army. "You guys want to start a fight in my backyard, I got something for you," he recalls thinking at the time. But in Safstrom's view, the American presence is futile. "If we stayed here for 5, even 10 more years, the day we leave here these guys will go crazy," he said. "It would go straight into a civil war. That's how it feels, like we're putting a Band-Aid on this country until we leave here.
