Orszag As Budget Chief?
Brian Wingfield

A good choice for Obama, if this report is true. Orszag is one of the top budget experts in Washington, and he'd be a young face in the next administration.

Dear Dipshit Leader Not Qualified to be President (unless he can prove he is)
pkronfield
by pkronfield  Yesterday 9:03 PM    1
Der Fuhrer Obama has so far not produced a valid certificate of live birth proving he was native U.S. born. If he has nothing to hide, why doesn't he just produce it and let it be scrutinized. He is lying and hiding something (like his visits to Pakistani madrassas in his youth...)

Billy~The Bomber~"Academian", Author & American Terrorist
merrie
by merrie  Yesterday 9:01 PM
"Good Morning America's" Friday interview with former bomber William Ayers, news anchor Chris Cuomo did challenge the ex-'60s radical on whether or not he was a terrorist. But after Ayers contended, "It's not terrorism because it doesn't target people. It doesn't target people to either kill or injure," the journalist failed to offer specifics that would refute that point. Cuomo could have easily cited the example of John Murtagh. He was a child in 1970 when the Weather Underground, founded by Mr. Ayers, placed multiple bombs, one underneath the gas tank of the family car, at the home of his New York judge father. In a New York Daily News op-ed on April 30, 2008, Murtagh wrote, "I was only 9 then, the year Ayers' Weathermen tried to murder me." http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2008/04/30/2008-04-30_barack_obama_pal_is_an_enemy_too.html "How can a sophisticated academic like yourself believe that the inherent recklessness of exploding bombs "

Senate Leadership Forgives Lieberman
Wisco
by Wisco  Yesterday 1:43 PM    1
"It's a resolution of reconciliation and not retribution...I appreciate it," Joementum is reported as saying. For those of you keeping track of these sorts of things, the Democratic congressional leadership has established that nothing you do, no matter how shitty and disloyal, will get you kicked out of the party. From the same leadership who established the principle that there's no such thing as an impeachable offense, this shouldn't come as a surprise. Seems bass-ackward to me, though -- he loses the seat where he was doing good work and keeps the position where he can do the most harm. This stands a good chance of biting us all in the ass down the road.

Indonesians feel a connection with Obama, who "experienced the inner soul of Indonesia" during the four years he spent there as a child, Yudhoyono said. Yudhoyono also praised George W. Bush as "one of the most pro-Indonesia American presidents in the history of our bilateral relations."

Admirals, generals: Let gays serve openly
ratilfar
by ratilfar  Yesterday 8:58 AM    1
The issue of gays in the military became a flash point early in the Clinton administration as Clinton tried to fulfill a campaign promise to end the military's ban on gays. His efforts created the current compromise policy — ending the ban but prohibiting active-duty service members from openly acknowledging they are gay. But it came at a political cost. The resulting debate divided service members and veterans, put Democrats on the defensive and provided cannon fodder for social conservatives and Republican critics who questioned Clinton's patriotism and standing with the military.

Employee Free Choice Act
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  Yesterday 8:00 AM
We The People, may finally have a voice now that Barack Obama is our President. Hope is overflowing for the downtrodden American worker who saw labor hour increases while compensation decreased due to the many monitory escalations of Energy, Food, Shelter, Healthcare and Clothing. Disparity was the rule. This Employee Free Choice Act must be passed so that the American worker can start climbing out of the quagmire, too many years of Corporate rule put us in. The Perils of Cheap Oil
Spiritualmonkey
by Spiritualmonkey  Yesterday 12:56 AM    1
CONT'D: "When economic growth resumes across the globe, demand for oil will surge once again. Only this time around, given the constraints presented by declining oil fields and the current apparent freeze in investment in new oil production capacity, the supply-demand equation will likely send oil prices shooting back up, perhaps even further than before. "Which is why now is the time, more than ever, for government leadership that promotes conservation, energy efficiency, fuel economy, and increased production of renewable energy. Waiting until the economy recovers before tackling energy would be a huge, huge mistake."

Hurrah for the Millennials!
dulios
by dulios  11-17-2008    1
When it comes to policy, Millennials are liberal interventionists on economic issues, active multilateralists in foreign affairs and tolerant non-meddlers on social issues-a profile that most closely matches the Democratic Party's platform as well as the new President's agenda. Their propensity to vote straight Democratic was clearly evident in 2008 when young voters supported Democratic congressional candidates by about the same margin that they did Obama (63% vs. 34%).

Obama and McCain Meet
Wisco
by Wisco  11-17-2008    2
This strikes me as probably more than a "let bygones be bygones" photo op. McCain's loss was an expensive one for him in terms of political capital. He's on the outs with his party right now. If he's close to the Obama White House, he has some leverage to get some of his stuff done. It would also be helpful for Obama to have some pull with the senate GOP. Like they say, if you can't beat 'em...

Yes, It had to be President Barack Obama, because we really have, had ENOUGH! --- We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope. But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope. by: Barack Obama ~~~~~ Not only is another world possible, she is on her way.
