POPS Is The "Tape" Rumor Based On A 2006 Novel? Now look, if there was a story about blackmailing a candidate using a video tape of him making racist comments, that would be an interesting tie-in. If the candidate was black, that would be an interesting coincidence. But if the character precisely described Barrack Oama and his signature campaign theme? That is too convenient. And the character had a minister problem? How many coincidences can we get here? And the tape was used by an opponent - and not found by the news media? And the racist comment was “whitey”? Then there is way too much more coincidence: UPDATE The fight against ‘government’ corruption” is way too pat as well. And to add to all the ridiculous coincidences character Jesse Ford, the black candidate running for President, is a US Senator. The Book came out December 2006 (after the election). Was Obama the inspiration?

POPSHope, change, and pissing in the wind: Of Obama, Democrats, and the power elite There are systemic contradictions at play that almost force the hand of capitalists to do what they do -- for example, they are now trying to roll back the social democratic gains of the European working class during the postwar period. Merkel, Brown, Berlusconi, and Sarkozy are no accidents. They represent the concerted effort of the European bourgeoisie, egged on by the American elites, to push back on the working class and take it all back under the pretext of “remaining competitive” and a plethora of other fraudulent reasons.

POPSSpeak for yourself Barrack... Don't know why I can't fail New Orleans. I didn't choose to live below sea level. I got along fine without the "culture". Not entirely sure that rebuilding is the answer here. Perhaps relocation - I might be able to get behind that.

POPSPolls about a Black President
It always bothers me when I read something like the paragraph above wirtten by Newsweek. The newsweek poll asks whether "the country is ready to elect an African-American president." People will answer depending on their perception of how ready the country is. Therefore the 41 percent who said no maybe skeptical about their fellow countrymen's prejudice, but there's no reason to think that that number is prejudiced. I've noticed in coversations with people who are skeptical about voting for Obama for race reasons, its most often because they don't believe he could win a majority vote because of everyone else, so why back a losing horse? What's sad is I would guess that polls that ask if an individual would vote for a black person instead of whether they think everyone else would, you'd find that blacks have a better chance than what articles like this suggest. Unfortunately, these articles perputuate the idea that black candidates don't have a chance and reduces voter confidence.

POPSOn a Sunny Evening I really like this poem because it has a message of hope in it... these children were going through a hard time but they didn't stop having faith.
