Ah, the Indian did it, eh!
benaloy
by benaloy  10-18-2008
The Englishman taught the game and the indians picked it up cleanly. Did you see the film LAGAAN? It's about British Colonial arrogance, Taxes, Indian starving Farmers and how they beat English Soldiers at their own game a century back. The Cantonment was closed and removed through shame.

A voice from the dark

This could apply to many gifted sports people who are coping with depression. It is a precis from a book about a very talented example. How many others have had to curtail promising careers?

Cricket's honour role gets a shake up
pokkets
by pokkets  12-20-2007
The ratings today tend to be on statistical averages, but this doesn't take into account the contribution to the team, and so to winning. Somehow Don Bradman always came out on top. If he had scored 1 run in his final innings he would have had an average of 100. He got out for a duck (0) and his average was 99.97 While it can seem trivial, an example of the way Australians see Don Bradman, is that the abc in Australia , the people running abc.net.au, use his batting average as their post office box number. P.O Box 9997 in your capital city.

Last Chance to see LARA bat
techmine
by techmine  4-21-2007
Another legend leaves us. This time Brian Charles Lara, greatest batsman of the modern era is is bidding adieu. I cannot imagine that this guy won't stand again against Australians, the rivalry we have loved for so many years. He is the guy who loved pressure and so many times like Steve Waugh, fought lone battles for West Indies. But above of all, he was such a great joy to watch. Thank you Brian Lara for being such a great great Player.

Australia back to Number 1
techmine
by techmine  4-9-2007    1
Australia has been and will remain number 1 cricket team in the world for few more years atleast. For a short duration, SA took first spot but that was nothing to do with their own performance but due to Australia's defeat in recent tri-series against England. Australia is way ahead of other teams in the world. SA's charge to number 1 spot was because of some number games that ICC has. The same thing applies to Ricky ponting as a batsman. How can Kevin Peterson beat Ponting to become number 1. Ricky is the greatest match winner I have seen for many years now. He is the best.

The show goes on - First hat-trick of the world cup
techmine
by techmine  3-28-2007
Even without highly rated Asian teams like Pakistan and India, the World Cup is still a great tournament to watch. Just now I witnessed an almost disaster for South Africa. They lost 4 wickets in 4 balls which includes a hat-trick by Malinga. All the tension came to an end when number 10 batsman miscued a shot for a 4 and helped SA to win the match. Now that is why Mr. Smith, we call you guys - chokers. You almost did!

Herschelle Gibbs hit 6 sixes in an over.
techmine
by techmine  3-16-2007    2
Fantastic! Gibbs hit 6 sixes in one over. No one has done it ever in an ODI. I am delighted to see SA's game. They have made it clear their intentions in this WC. I would cheer for them. They are one of my favorites. Also Boucher scored fastest half-century of the World Cup. And SA scored 18 sixes, which is maximum for any ODI

Big Blow to Pakistan WC campaign.
techmine
by techmine  2-27-2007    2
This is a big blow to Pakistan. Razzaq is undoubtedly the best allrounder Pakistan has. The team has some real issues now. With doping controversy already gripping the team, this one is a disaster.

Nice Guy. Always fought for the glory in a star studded Aussie lineup. Didn't have a great technique but had true determination to score runs. A good opener.
