Interesting that they would include these, and not others. I am not Catholic, and therefore do not view sins in this way. The basic Christian view is that one sin can keep you out of heaven- ie Hell is not a punishment but the result of separation from God for all eternity.
Before entering Lenten fasting and pennance, the Pope calls to mind the Jesus' call to Love our enemies. May all Christians use the following weeks to internalize the peace of God.
