POPSvoting + electronics = EPIC FAIL!!
tsk tsk..... how many years running and only the hackers of the world have a clue on how patheticly stupid it is using electronic machines... go back to paper folks!!! lo-tech always beats hi-tech.... sheesh even Oprah had problems with her machine.. Now lets think about (North) Americans for a minute.... for techno savvy (reasonably) folks you sure are over-confident in your concepts of "security". Only non-hackers(users) can even CONCEIVE of (its frankly funny) "secure" You want something thats un-hackable... unplug it!! -that is a FACT Now Security.. (digital).... realise it now.. it is just an idea and u better get it over it.. dont believe me? google video: steve rambam, toorcon or if u r smart RTFM With the amount of info out on the backdoors on the machines from 04 and 00... sigh.... (closed source machines!!!!!?? Hello!!?? OMG?? alarm bells anybody!!?? *sigh*) Catch a wake up!! .....not that it matters, peak-oil etc, we'll all be seriously off-line

POPS"Obama Wins!," declares newspaper "So, “each copy must be read by 100 different and distinct people. This places an enormous burden on our intrepid readers. However, it is a burden that we must insist you carry. So, please, read quickly, care for the physical condition of the paper and pass it on to your next chosen reader.”

POPSImage Beats Facts for Republicans "Once upon a time, it was a canny strategy. Reagan and his staff were masters of the art of overwhelming facts with image. There's the famous story about Leslie Stahl, back in the 80s, doing a story that was critical of Reagan's use of images that contradicted facts. "I knew the piece would have an impact, if only because it was so long: five minutes and 40 seconds, practically a documentary in Evening News terms," Stahl later wrote. I worried that my sources at the White House would be angry enough to freeze me out." That's not what happened. Reagan adviser Dick Darman called from the White House to tell her how much they had loved the piece. Stahl replied, incredulously, "Didn't you hear what I said?" Darman replied, "Nobody heard what you said. You guys in Televisionland haven't figured it out, have you? When the pictures are powerful and emotional, they override if not completely drown out the sound. I mean it, Lesley. Nobody heard you.""

POPSMcCain Beats Obama ! At first, it wasn’t evident that something extraordinary was brewing last evening. The polls in Virginia closed at 7 pm Eastern time, and that race was too close to call (no surprise there) since, even though Obama was favored in the Old Dominion State, George W. Bush had carried it by eight points both elections. But by 8 pm, it began to become apparent that the blowout some in the media and the Obama camp had been predicting might not be materializing. New Hampshire — where pre-election polls had seen Obama up 10 points — was too close to call, a repeat of what had happened almost a year before in the primary between Obama and Clinton. Missouri and Ohio were also too close to call, with McCain showing unexpected strength among working-class and Catholic voters. Just as in 2004, Florida was showing unexpected strength for the Republicans, despite the housing crisis. Then Minnesota began to report and, in a huge surprise, that race, too, was too close to call.

POPSOperating inside a Beating Heart
"We know how to repair valves. But what patients and doctors want is a more rapid recovery," says Marc Gillinov, It can take two or three months for a patient to recover from an open-heart procedure; if the heart didn't have to be stopped, the recovery time could drop significantly. Performing the surgery on a beating heart would also give the surgeon instant feedback on the effectiveness of the procedure. "You'd know just as you do it whether the valve is working well," Gillinov says. Data from the 3-D ultrasound images is analyzed using special software written by the researchers. The software can predict where heart tissue will be approximately 70 to 100 milliseconds in the future, so the position of the tip of the handheld surgical tool can be adjusted accordingly. Sensors in the tool also detect whether it comes in contact with the tissue. "We can detect very quickly if things deviate greatly from what's predicted and then pull back the to get it out of the way,"
