POPSJelly Bellies more widely available *scratches head in puzzlement* Maybe it's because they're local (been on the factory tour a couple of times, myself), but having them more widely available certainly doesn't seem to have hurt sales around here. I have little patience with this kind of appeal to exclusivity and snobbery. Sure, if the quality has gone down as a result of the expansion (like it did with Ben & Jerry's), that's one thing. But "it's too easy to find them, too many people are buying them now, I don't want them anymore"? Bah.

POPS Analyst Warns of $200/Barrel Oil* *One barrel of crude oil is 42 gallons (or $4.76 per gallon) In the Cato-at-Liberty blog post "Is There an Oil Price Bubble?" Cato senior fellow Jerry Taylor writes: "The most recent Fed actions to combat the deteriorating state of the macroeconomy added even more fuel to the oil price fire. With market actors increasingly convinced that the Fed is willing to entertain inflation in the course of injecting liquidity into the market, investors are looking for investments to hedge against inflation. And what do you know? Returns on commodities have historically been better during inflationary periods than during non-inflationary periods. Ben Bernanke thus sent another strong infusion of cash into commodity futures -- again, largely into oil and gas futures.

POPSMonsanto's Udder Disgrace The milk labeling controversy - and other corporate practices of Monsanto - have been issues for years. For a while every time I saw my Senator, I would greet him with the same comment, "Hey Bernie, when are you going to do something about Monsanto?" Senator Bernie would shake his head and raise his hands in frustration. I often heard him say that no matter how bad you think things are in Washington, they are really much worse. While the Congress is distracted with growth hormones taken by sports figures, our farm animals are being abused with other hormones. Baseball players have a free choice. Cows don't. None of us have a choice. Not if Monsanto has anything to say about it and they do. Money talks.

POPSACORN, voter fraud and John Edwards There is a youtube of John Edwards and ACORN there; the clip didn't grab it. ACORN has been around for quite a while. It’s been “implicated in numerous reports of fraudulent voter registration, vote-rigging, voter intimidation, and vote-for-pay scams during the 2004 election”, and “maintains close ties to organized labor.” It’s a private company that gets money from a number of foundations, including money from Ben & Jerry of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. They are the “Largest radical group in America, with 175,000 dues-paying member families, and more than 850 chapters in 70 US cities”.

POPSWhich brands do teens trust most? There's 10 more at the source. Interesting to see who rates. I agree with the top 6 at least. In-N-Out Burger is good enough to make me want to move to California!

POPSVote for Truth in labeling! I have a neighbor who was offered a contract to get rid of their cows and buy chickens. The offerer would supply all of the chickens and the seed. So I ask, Does this sound like the same company moving into the chicken industry?

POPSWhere Have You Been All My Life? I loved, loved, LOVED the 2K football series put forth by Sega so many years ago. I loved paying for NFL 2k5 with a $20 bill, too. I will gladly buy this game for the 360 without a second thought. Create-a-player plus a league of football legends means that the customization will be limitless (at least I hope).

POPSHow some Hippies got Rich... Cool story of how 3 folks with a good idea backed into a business that made them into millionaires. Kinda like the Ben and Jerry story.
