POPSWhich diet is better?
Although participants actually decreased their total daily calories consumed by a similar amount, net weight loss from the low-fat diet after two years was only 6.5 lbs. (2.9 kg) compared to 10 lbs. (4.4 kg) on the Mediterranean diet, and 10.3 lbs. (4.7 kg) on the low-carbohydrate diet. "These weight reduction rates are comparable to results from physician-prescribed weight loss medications," explains Dr. Iris Shai, the lead researcher. The low-fat diet reduced the total cholesterol to HDL ratio by only 12 percent, while the low-carbohydrate diet improved the same ratio by 20 percent. Lipids improved the most in the low-carbohydrate, with a 20% increase in the HDL ("good") cholesterol and, 14% decrease in triglycerides. In all three diets, inflammatory and liver function biomarkers was equally improved. However, among diabetic participants, the standard low-fat diet actually increased the fasting glucose levels by 12mg/dL, while the Mediterranean diet induced a decrease in fasting g

POPSThis Day In Israel, 1967 The Six-Day War Began Seven months later, at a dinner at the LBJ Ranch in Texas, President Lyndon B. Johnson toasted Israeli Prime Minister Eshkol, saying: "That is our intention in the Middle East and throughout our world. To pursue peace. To find peace. To keep peace forever among men. If we are wise, if we are fortunate, if we work together-perhaps our Nation and all nations may know the joys of that promise God once made about the children of Israel: 'I will make a covenant of peace with them...it shall be an everlasting covenant.'"

POPSChertoff Wants to Israelize US Airport Security Big Brother expansion while he signs an agreement with Israel (can he do that?) to "share technologies". Chertoff holds dual citizenship and is part of the neocon-Israeli fifth column revolutionizing America into a police state. I wonder how much the Israeli companies will profit from this "sharing". By the way, what threat of terrorism? The probabilities are microscopic in comparison to crime or traffic accidents, yet we bow to the most extreme and expensive measures, none of which would stop a real suicidal terrorist? Everyone is treated as suspicious, and we call it "freedom"? But don't worry, you will be treated as well as a Palestinian in your "homeland".

POPSHamas TV's Perverse, Depraved "Satanic Jews" Garbage Al-Aqsa TV April 18 2008 The Transcript, Narrator: "The disabled and handicapped are a heavy burden on the state," said the terrorist leader, Ben Gurion. The Satanic Jews thought up an evil plot to be rid of the burden of the disabled and handicapped, in twisted criminal ways. While they accuse the Nazis or others so the Jews would seem persecuted, and try to benefit from international sympathy. They were the first to invent the methods of evil and oppression." They were sent so there would be a holocaust, so Israel could "play" it for world sympathy." "The alleged numbers of Jews were merely for propa

POPS60th Anniversary of Deir Yassein massacre by Israeli PM I knew exactly what he was getting at by citing Deir Yassein. In the progressive, “Labor” Zionist movement of which Habonim was a part, we had long recognized the 1948 massacre of up to 250 Arab men, women and children in the village near Jerusalem as an ugly stain on the “purity of arms” myth in which we had always cloaked violence from Israeli side. We knew about Deir Yassein, but we could dissociate ourselves from it, or so we imagined, because it had been carried out not by the Haganah of Ben Gurion, but by an Irgun unit led by Menahem Begin. And as far as we ardent young Zionists of the left were concerned, Begin, who by then was Prime Minister of Israel, was nothing but a fascist thug and terrorist — hell, even Ben Gurion detested the man and condemned the Deir Yassein killings. ...TonyKaron

POPSBundeskanzlerin Angela Merkels Rede vor der Knesset (im Wortlaut) Merkel stressed that the German government supports the Annapolis peace process . "Germany stands firmly behind the vision of two states within secure borders and living in peace, for both the Jewish people in Israel and the Palestinian people in Palestine." Germany, Merkel said, would "never abandon Israel, but instead will remain a loyal partner and friend." As in the past, Merkel's speech contained only homeopathic doses of criticism of Israel's occupation policy and its hesitation to commit itself to the peace process. "One must also have the strength to make painful concessions," the chancellor hinted, only to quickly dilute what had sounded like the beginnings of a rebuke. "In order to be a realist you must believe in miracles," she said, quoting David Ben Gurion, the founder and first prime minister of the State of Israel. spiegel.de

POPSWhy doing nothing may sometimes be the best action of all
By taking action — even if it’s neither rational nor likely to be successful — they can at least be seen to have done something. If they stand and wait until the ball is kicked and then fail to stop it, they feel worse because of their inaction; and others are far more likely to criticize them for not appearing even to try. It’s better to try a poor action than try a better — but seemingly passive — response if both fail; even though the “inactive” response is more rational and based on a better likelihood of success. In today’s business world, action is preferred over the alternatives and is more likely to result in forgiveness when a mistake is made. You can always say that you tried. The person who does nothing is doubly damned: once for the mistake and again for not “doing something.”This urge to action — to get things done — is more emotional than rational. “Wait and see” risks your credibility and reputation, even where it can be shown to be the optimal course.

POPSAn Israeli Rabbi Thanks Bush for Invading Iraq.
I become very angry when I hear Orthodox rabbis thanking President Bush for attacking Iraq and thus supporting Israel. I have no problem whatsoever with America's support of Israel, which is an ally of ours. But I become very annoyed when we are expected to go to war with a country that did not attack us, simply because an ally finds it advantageous for us to do so. I find it very interesting that the vast majority of American Jews (70%) are against the Iraq war, while we are told that the majority of Israeli Jews are happy for it. I understand differences in opinions and perceptions, but to have someone thank a leader for going to war with a country that did not pose a direct threat to that leader's country, and had not attacked the ally either, just seems particularly cold blooded. I wonder how the families of our dead and wounded soldiers feel, as well as the families of the tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians who were killed and maimed. For what are we being thanked?

POPSNOBEL HYPOCRICY ALFRED NOBEL REMADE HIS IMAGE, NOW HIS AWARD IS USED TO POLISH THE IMAGE OF MANY OTHER HYPOCRITS. POLITICS IS A RACKET. WAR IS A RACKET. THE UN DOES NOTHING TO BRING GLOBAL PEACE. EVERY ALPHABET AGENCY IS A FRONT & THEIR REAL PURPOSE IS THE OPPOSITE THAT THEY PUBLICALLY PROCLAIM. AND SO IT GO'S... Reminds me so much of the recent 'cultural diversity award' given to tyrant in Kazakstan. And what was his 'achievement'??? Boiling a human beings to death. The photo of the body i saw still haunts me. Burned up to his chest. Psyhopaths give each other awards. Pat each other on the back. Bush tells Brownie he's doing a great job in Katrina. What are their awards and accolades... but just more lies. Only the blind could not see through the lies and hypocricy. Least we could do is hold the mirror up to the hypocrits faces, and make certain they know we are not buying the cheap illusions. True nobility or virtue rarely takes place in elite circles. Power corrupts absolutely.

POPSReligion of Tolerance? "Upon his release from jail, he was exiled to Alexandria. Later, in his books and memoirs, he recalled vividly a particular moment on the train, when an Arab acquaintance of his, whom he called Yeya Effendi, walked by and saw him waiting to leave. The men embraced, exchanged news and greetings, and then Yeya Effendi asked him where he was going." "Ben-Gurion told him that he was being exiled, ordered never to return to Jerusalem. Yeya Effendi held him in the embrace of a true friend, mourning his loss of their shared city. Then he looked at Ben-Gurion and said something that Ben-Gurion pondered for the entire train ride to Alexandria. 'As your friend, I am sad,' Yeya Effendi told him. 'But as an Arab, I rejoice.' "

POPS New airline restrictions may be here to stay Israel has the right way to do aiport security. It's quite simple - there is only 1 known group - muslim extremist - causing these problems. Simply put them and anyone associated with the in a database and if they intend to fly, they will go through special screening and not be allowed carry on bags. There is no reason to put everyone else through a painful process. Yes - some will say this is religous profiling or ethnic profiling, but until the terrorists MO changes - that is what should be done. "Rafi Ron, former head of security at Tel Aviv, Israel's Ben Gurion Airport, said screeners should focus more on finding suspicious people than on hunting for potential terrorist tools.
