POPSThe saddest of Madonna portraits :( It's hard to fathom of the grief of those whose babies are stillborn or die soon after birth. My heart goes out to them. I'm glad to see that these specialty photographers are handling their work with such sensitivity and are not charging the bereaved parents.

POPSFirst British woman killed in Afghanistan With several friends with daughters in the War Zones I will temper my reaction. The situation in Afghanistan will get worse and more families will grieve. I sincerely sympathise with these bereaved families and hope that their families are strong enough to withstand this awful onslaught. If we are fighting terrorism and the scourge of heroin abuse, why are the likes of Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss not charged with/ as accomplices to the soldiers murders? Do these self indulgent personalities not realise that their addictions are costing decent people their lives - and they do not take their evil drugs.

POPSIraqi Women Quietly Endure Horrors of War
Zangana also puts into perspective what the number of civilian deaths means in Iraq, which some estimates suggest eclipsed 1 million people. She cites a 2006 report that stated more than 90 women become widows each day. "Since men are the main target of US led troops, militias and death squads…It is women who have come to bury the dead. Baghdad has become a city of bereaved women," writes Zangana. Women are also bearing the brunt of the ongoing refugee crisis. According to an Iraqi Red Crescent report titled "The Internally Displaced People in Iraq" released Jan. 27, there are more than 2 million internally displaced peoples (refugees), while women and children under the age of 12 compose roughly 82 percent of this staggering number. But I would be doing Iraqi women and Zangana's "City of Windows" a disservice by solely focusing on suffering and their role as victims. Because despite the web of destruction, violence and repression Iraqi women face on a daily basis, we must not

POPSNAZIS MURDER STUDENT. BEATEN TO DEATH. FATHER CUFFED.
He was on his way to the Open University in Bethlehem for the upcoming school year. A Palestinian policeman, Musa Suleiman witnessed the event. The murdering soldiers apparently called Jihad to approach them. He had nothing in his hands. A soldier stood next to the driver's door of the Hummer, and another 3 sat inside. When Jihad reached the Hummer, Suleiman says he saw the soldier grab Jihad by the shirt and pull him forcibly behind the vehicle. Suleiman, who was already about 20 meters from the vehicle, says that apparently an argument broke out between Jihad and the soldier who grabbed his shirt, which developed into a violent struggle between the 2. A few seconds later he saw them both sprawled on the ground. That's when the other 3 soldiers got out of the Hummer. Suleiman heard 2 shots. 4 soldiers began beating Jihad, who was sprawled on the ground. They used wooden clubs and their rifle butts, while Jihad tried to protect his head with his hands. That was all Suleiman saw.

POPSCommittee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People "Great France of la liberté, l`égalité et la fraternité is scared of little girls with head scarves, Great Jewish Israel is afraid of the Muslim womb and its ministers call it a demographic threat. Almighty America and Great Britain are infecting their respective citizens with blind fear of the Muslims, who are depicted as vile, primitive and bloodthirsty, apart from their being non-democratic, chauvinistic and mass producers of future terrorists. This in spite of the fact that the people who are destroying the world today are not Muslim. One of them is a devout Christian, one is Anglican and one is a non-devout Jew ."

POPSRace Killings 'low impact' For Home Office Both bereaved families fought for years to secure public inquiries into the killings. Suresh Grover, a campaigner for both families, said: "I'm appalled that public interest cases where lives have been lost - sometimes because the Home Office itself is not functioning properly - should be so low on this list. This reveals the very sad fact that the Home Office is more interested in saving politicians than in saving lives and responding to real need."

POPSIsraelis ask Oscars to drop suicide bomb film I saw Paradise Now and highly recommend it. It condemns suicide bombing and a "cult of death" that is present in Palestinian society (there's a scene where a Palestinian woman is shocked to find a store renting out tapes of suicide bombers' speechers and the confessions of collaborators right before they are shot). It also criticizes Hamas-like organizations that exploit and manipulate poor youth into becoming suicide bombers. I think it pisses off Israelis because it does not portray suicide bombers as crazed fanatics and it recognizes that Palestinians have legitimate grievances against Israel.
