WHAT? JUNEUARY IN SEATTLE?
fewstingscorpio
by fewstingscorpio  6-10-2008
All us native or long-timers of Seattle know that summer here starts July 5th through September and often October. But will it happen this year? Send us some warmth for summer. Send us some South warmth and dryness. I appreciate moss and beautiful green but I think we're good. Oceans to fall, not rise over millennia
pokkets
by pokkets  3-6-2008    2
Of course they're talking about a geological timespan -80 Million Years. That doesn't change the potential rise over the next 10-100 years. A mere flash in geological time. There is a curious reason, The oceans are becoming deeper. Changes caused by continental drift being the primary cause. For example The Atlantic will widen, and the Pacific will shrink. While they say the estimated drop is around 120 m, if the Ice on Greenland and Antarctica happened to melt, as it seems to be doing today, the drop would only be 70 m

Russia Seeks to Claim Arctic Mineral Wealth
jetcloud
by jetcloud  7-26-2007
The Arctic until now has been considered international territory. Nations with land bordering the Arctic Ocean, including the United States, reject Moscow's contention that the area could belong to Russia. Denmark, which controls Greenland, is cooperating with Canada in arguing that the Lomonosov Ridge is an extension of North America, not Russia."
