There's also some "enemy of my enemy" logic: Verizon rival AT&T already has a pact with Google rival Yahoo! They are also being made with no hardware at all, just "softflex" type wire, in a loop, with the beads. I haven't been able to figure out where they are crimping it from the set I saw.
