POPSI'm not sayin', but I'm just sayin'...The Number is 666 The Number of the Beast is a concept from the Book of Revelation of the New Testament of the Christian Bible. The Number is 666 in modern biblical text, although 616 and 665 appear instead in at least one ancient source. This topic is a source of contention for many church groups and theologians. Some scholars contend that the number is a code for the Roman Emperor Nero. Mark of commerce Futurist Christian eschatology typically holds that the Mark of the Beast is one way in which the Antichrist will exercise power over the Earth during the period of Tribulation, because of the prophetic statement in Revelation 13:16-17 that "the Beast" (θηριον) will require all people to receive the mark (χάραγμα "branded mark or character) in their right hands or foreheads in order to buy or sell, making survival for those on the run much more difficult. http://www.answers.com/Apocalyptic%20Number

POPSThe Vice of Reading Diversified What this author only hints at, and the NEA overlooks entirely, is that literacy and the processing of information in text format has been radically transformed by modern communication. For instance, when I was young people dispaired that the art of letter writing and written expression would disappear entirely. On the contrary, with email, blogging, and other assorted media, we are as a society writing more than ever before. And it's not just the privileged and educated who get to read and write. Writing has become a daily habit for billions of people around the world, and one of the most egalitarian ways of communicating in the developing world. And the NEA also fails to appreciate that the way we live our lives has been altered by how we process information. The line between reading for pleasure, reading for work, reading for education, and reading for spirituality is now hopelessly, and wonderfully blurred.

POPSThe Founding Fathers view on America and God Patrick Henry - “It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.” “ Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.” Source: October 12, 1816. The Correspondence and Public Papers of John Jay Thomas Jefferson - "I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus." “God who gave us life gave us liberty." - Thomas Jefferson “ It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and Bible.” - George Washington "Christianity is part of the common law" - James Wilson

POPSRevelation 13 --- an interesting perspective I "stumbled upon" this and while some points are whacky - there is some interesting points this guy has made. Not so much the religous side - but the aspects of the various countries and such - that we are seeing in the news at present. Granted page dates of a site can change - but it looks like this dude had much of this written two years ago. I just find it interesting the various correlations. Yes, I know anything can be used to make anything seem real -- the current administration has illustrated that ;-)
