POPS5 Psychological Experiments That Expose Humanity's Dark Side #2. The Stanford Prison Experiment (1971) The Setup: Psychologist Philip Zimbardo wanted to find out how captivity affects authorities and inmates in prison. Sounds innocent enough. Seriously, what could go wrong? #1. The Milgram Experiment (1961) The Setup: When the prosecution of the Nazis got underway at the Nuremberg Trials, many of the defendants' excuse seemed to revolve around the ideas of, "I'm not really a prick" and, "Hey man, I was just following orders." Yale University psychologist Stanley Milgram wanted to test willingness of subjects to obey an authority figure. Maybe he could just, you know, ask people? Oh, hell no. That would not be nearly horrifying enough.

POPSPredestination, or Free Will? This is a concept of a very different God, one who suffers with the world and doesnt know the future in absolute detail. It is scary too. If God is not omnipotent there seems to be the possibility that evil can gain supremacy.

POPSI'm not sayin', but I'm just sayin'...The Number is 666 The Number of the Beast is a concept from the Book of Revelation of the New Testament of the Christian Bible. The Number is 666 in modern biblical text, although 616 and 665 appear instead in at least one ancient source. This topic is a source of contention for many church groups and theologians. Some scholars contend that the number is a code for the Roman Emperor Nero. Mark of commerce Futurist Christian eschatology typically holds that the Mark of the Beast is one way in which the Antichrist will exercise power over the Earth during the period of Tribulation, because of the prophetic statement in Revelation 13:16-17 that "the Beast" (θηριον) will require all people to receive the mark (χάραγμα "branded mark or character) in their right hands or foreheads in order to buy or sell, making survival for those on the run much more difficult. http://www.answers.com/Apocalyptic%20Number

POPSPillar of Unbelief - Marx Monism: the idea that everything is one and that common sense's distinction between matter and spirit is illusory. Pantheism: the notion that the distinction between Creator and creature, the distinctively Jewish idea, is false. For Hegel, the world is made into an aspect of God (Hegel was a pantheist); for Marx, God is reduced to the world (Marx was an atheist). Historicism: the idea that everything changes, even truth; that there is nothing above history to judge it; and that therefore what is true in one era becomes false in another, or vice versa. Dialectic: the idea that history moves only by conflicts between opposing forces, a "thesis" vs. an "antithesis" evolving a "higher synthesis." Necessitarianism, or fatalism: the idea that the dialectic and its outcome are inevitable and necessary, not free. Statism: the idea that since there is no eternal, trans-historical truth or law, the state is supreme and uncriticizable. Militarism: (read article)

POPSTheocracy is Not American A portion of the population would like nothing better than for this country to be subject to Biblical law. In this narrow view, all the problems we have are related directly to not following their Bible.

POPSWatch Out Heathens! You'll have to travel over to the main site to take advantage of the fun. Here's some examples: I hope you will be cast onto a steaming dung-heap, O ye creature of the pit! Behold, thou shalt be swallowed by a whale with excessively bad breath, O thou son of thunder! Thou shalt see your pomegranates wither, thou incompetent tax-collector! I pray thou shalt be pursued into the mountains by sex-mad baboons, thou babbling Assyrian!

POPSApocalypse Now, Palin? "When her phone rings at 3am, would she reach for her worn Bible on the bedside table to confirm that her crisis management is in line with Biblical prophecy?"

POPSSibling Rivalries, The Story of (Mc) Cain and Abel As soon as I read this story, an old biblical folklore came to mind... The one about Cain (without the Mc) and his brother Abel. Abel, the first murder victim, is sometimes seen as the first martyr; while Cain, the first murderer, (or in Mc's case, the character assassinator) is sometimes seen as a progenitor (originator) of evil. There is another verse from the bible that could fit here, as well. "He Who Lives in a Glass House Shouldn't Throw Stones at Others!" In other words, people should not attack others for their flaws when they have the same flaws. Or better yet, this phrase not from the bible... "What goes around comes around". or, "If you do something bad to another, (eventually) you will get hurt too!" Nuff said, John McCain! :p See video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcCe7ogI33k

POPSTriumph of the Will? Will America choose foundational faith(American historical and biblical)and reason or reject that in favor of a new faith(state and government based) and structure(socialism-Marxism-Leninism)? "For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water."Jeremiah 2:13

POPSWhen The Messiah Speaks, The Youth Will Hear “Not sure the Obama team will be thrilled about yet another crazy association,” added another commenter on the NewsBusters forums page. Previous reports have documented Obama’s links to Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga, onetime Weatherman bombing suspect Bill Ayers and Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who proclaimed a black liberation theology for 20 years while Obama was a member of his church, demanding that God “d***” America. “How much more have to come out on Obama before the O-Bots put down the kool-aid and say ENOUGH!” added a third. “Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus,” Cohen said during a one-minute speech on the floor of the U.S. House yesterday. “Pontius Pilate was a governor.” Democrats, including party strategist Donna Brazile and Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., made nearly identical biblical comparisons of the characters in this presidential election Is Barack Obama the Messiah? http://obamamessiah.blogspot.com/

POPS'It's the culture, stupid!' Europe “All that has made European culture and civilization great – the Europe of the thousand cathedrals, the Europe of the custodians of the artistic treasures, of literature and Christian music, the Europe that expressed real solidarity and service to the poor through the emphatic force of Christian charity – found their origins in the Bible,” Oceania Putney, 62, noted the striking cultural contracts in his region, from the highly Western and secular ambience of urban Australia and New Zealand to the staggering variety of indigenous tribal groups in more rural areas and across the islands of Oceania. In Papua New Guinea alone, he noted, there are 847 distinct languages, and overall there are as many as 1,200 different tongues in Oceania.

POPSSay It Ain't So Pat Pat Robertson, that Nostradamus of the 21st century, has done it again. Although his previous predictions haven't fared all that well there's always a first time.
