POPSObscene Pentagon Budget disappearing down the Rabbit hole of corruption
Money Problems The Pentagon has its work cut out for it. Keeping track of its more than half trillion dollar budget and the hundreds of billions more in war spending is no easy task. There is bound to be some slippage here and there. But the Pentagon’s Inspector General’s Office recently reported to Congress that the Pentagon is unable to account for nearly $15 billion earmarked for the Iraq reconstruction effort. In a May report to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, the Inspector General’s Office highlights $7.8 billion paid to contractors for everything from telephones to trucks without any support documentation—like a check for $5.6 million to an Iraqi contractor. For what? No one knows. Or the $32 million doled out to build a facility for the Iraqi military. Never built. Why not? No one knows. One reason that money just seems to disappear is that there are not enough people watching the books. While the Pentagon budget has soared in the past seven years,

POPS Angry Renter. com: Sign The Petition To Congress Unfortunately, renters aren't as good at politics as the small minority of homeowners (and their bankers) who are in trouble. We don't have lobbyists in Washington, DC. We don't get a tax deduction for our rent and we don't get sweetheart government loans. WHEREAS: Most Americans rent or own their home outright, and the vast majority of homes (98%) are not in foreclosure. WHEREAS: Both banks and borrowers should be reponsible for their actions, and the government should not reward reckless behavior. WHEREAS: It is wrong to force all taxpayers-- including renters who are already subsidizing home owners through the tax code-- to pay for additional bailouts for big banks and home flippers. BE IT RESOLVED: That Congress should not pass any bailout programs that reward risky borrowing and lending. Let the free market sort it out! Sign the Petition : We Will Deliver the Next Batch to Congress on May 1st 19,353 People Have Signed So Far

POPSAnti-war what?
These quote -- except the first one -- are from Democrats and concern a $50 billion bill that adds funds , today, for the war. It almost sounds like the Democrats are going to do something real. While the Republicans continue to play one of their final gambits: i.e. - We should support the war because we have to support the troops. This 50-billion dollar bill has nothing more than a pretense of war opposition....with a provision to "begin the redeployment of our brave men and women,"..requiring that President Bush initiate troop withdrawals within 30 days of its passage with the goal of bringing home most soldiers and Marines by Dec. 15, 2008 -- but this goal of "most" troops withdrawn is NOT a requirement, not real at all and -- even worse -- puts out the idea that "enough soldiers and Marines are to be left behind to fight terrorists, train Iraqi security forces and protect U.S. assets." Ah...."protect US assests,' Such as the 14 or permanent military bases that are appare

POPSFred Thompson, just another good old boy If you need any specific evidence that scowling, jowling Freddie could care less about the health and welfare of the working class, look no further than the lobbying work he performed for Equitas, a British company established to process billions of dollars in claims by asbestos victims. Equitas paid Thompson $760,000 from 2004 to 2006, to lobby Congress to minimize payments to a trust fund to compensate asbestos victims. Thankfully, the bill failed but Equitas received what they had hoped for, the removal of a provision that singled out foreign insurers for unfavorable treatment. Jon Nash, a former Equitas spokesman, credited Thompson as having "contributed to the successful outcome". Or, perhaps the American people might want to question whether their interests will be best served by electing a registered foreign agent who once lobbied for deposed Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Bertrand Aristedes as president.

POPSHow to re-wright history 101 "A formula for keeping embarrassing facts secret in perpetuity........" I guess you can't blame him for wanting to keep his secrets, secret. What amazes me is how this "executive order" changing the law was thrown out there in 2001. King George must have had a premonition of things to come. Here's the name of that order, and what it does......... "First, the university should insist that Mr. Bush rescind Executive Order 13233, his 2001 directive that reverses — illegally in the view of many leading historians, journalists and legal thinkers — the strong presumption of a public right of access to presidential papers embedded in the 1978 Presidential Records Act."
