POPS The Illusion Of Hope Triumphs The rout of our democracy by a combination of Marxist idealogues and arab cash is now well underway. Our republic is about to be subverted from within. Obama will preside over the greatest expansion of the federal government since the New Deal tilting it farther to the extreme left and towards the model of a failed european socialist state with all the concomitant dependence on government welfare. The current financial crisis will be used as an excuse for government to spread its tentacles over every aspect of our national life. He has already displayed a disturbing inclination towards suppressing criticism which will continue with the imposition of the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" on broadcasters. His tax policies and the financing required for his universal health-care program, if unaltered, will plunge us into a depression. His party of idealogue obstructionists will prohibit off-shore drilling.

POPSUproar As Top Police Cleared of Attack on Genoa G8 Protesters At least 150 police officers stormed the Armando Diaz school on the night of July 21 2001, after three days of violence in Genoa that left more than 200 people injured and a protester dead. Police chiefs later claimed the school was occupied by the violently disruptive Black Bloc faction. If that is what rank-and-file officers were told, it may explain the viciousness with which they laid into the protesters. Briton Nicola Doherty was hit so hard on an arm with which she was shielding her face that her wrist was broken. The attack put 28 of 93 people arrested in hospital - three of them on the critical list. Mark Covell, a volunteer with the Indymedia news network, was unconscious for 14 hours. He suffered eight broken ribs, a punctured lung and 10 missing or broken teeth.

POPSNeeded: A Black Elton John "When I came out, I had an extraordinary set of parents who didn't give a crap and loved me, and I was never told I was going to hell," said Spearman, who grew up in the Washington, D.C., area, and came out at 17. "They had a sense of God that was larger than a chapter in Leviticus." "It would help if somebody major came out, but it would have to be somebody that sort of goes against all stereotypes," Spearman said. "There'd have to be some shock and awe, and then people would have to get used to it."

POPSOn Proposition 8: Something to consider For years, the California Christian right apparatus, long hampered by their nativism and racism, had been unable to make inroads into the state's brown, yellow and black population - a demographic goldmine in a state that is more than 50 percent minority and growing. Prop 8 may prove their goldrush. From the very beginning they bought up ad space in Chinese, black, Spanish, and Korean media; they hosted massive rallies for ethnic Christians. The Sunday before election day, I went to Los Angeles City Hall for the most celebratory, most diverse rally I have ever attended; it was organized by Yes on 8 Chinese advocates. POPSRebirth of Principled Opposition...
I held my nose and supported McCain because he was the better choice than Obama to me. Heck, Sen. Clinton was a better choice than Obama but she would not have fired up the black vote in droves. But I'm ready for a new leader...if there is such a thing in America anymore. I'm not looking for charisma, or celebrity, or smooth-talking, or promises of the moon. I'm just looking for someone who will take back the original intent of our Constitution and our freedoms to prosper by our own labor and responsibility. Is there someone with a passion for the American values that have made us the greatest Country on this earth and made us a haven and beacon for others? I'm not really sure. Good people do not want to subject themselves to the ridicule, the slander, the microscopic inspection of what's in your trash can. But ever the optimist...which I am not...Rush states: "Conservatives are free at last! Thank God Almighty, we're free at last -- to seek the mountaintop!"

POPSI hate black people Perhaps in time most of us will replace lifetimes of mistaken beliefs with reality of humanity. But, that will take education and ethics.

POPS"Nation Finally Awful Enough to Make Social Progress" ""Today Americans have grudgingly taken a giant leap forward," Williams continued. "And all it took was severe economic downturn, a bloody and unjust war, terrorist attacks on lower Manhattan, nearly 2,000 deaths in New Orleans, and more than three centuries of frequently violent racial turmoil." Said Williams, "The American people should be commended for their long-overdue courage."

POPSThe last, best day for newspapers I used to work at the Post and it was exciting to walk by the office yesterday and see a line of people clamoring for the paper. But I think it's the last, best day for the printed paper. I wonder if the Post will ever sell so many copies again? People like souvenirs of history, but how often does history happen? Before deadline? And able to get on the front page of the paper? It's just not that often. When it happens again in 10, 15, 20 years, will the lines be as long? I'm optimistic about the future of journalism. But I think the physical printed project, though probably not destined to go away completely, is still set to decline in numbers for very many years.

POPSThe Conservative Blogosphere on Obama's Win This is a fascinating article. What follows the part I clipped is an amazing cross-section of conservative blogs. Please compare them in your mind with the unhinged rage on the left after Bush won in 2004. This election may have been the best possible thing for true conservatism.

POPSMy Beautiful Blue Indiana! I am so pleased that the majority of voters in my home state of Indiana chose Obama over McCain! It has been an exciting election for us Hoosiers, who normally get little attention due to the assumption that Indiana is a dyed-in-the-wool red state. Well, not any more! Woo hoo! I was one of the Hoosiers who cast an absentee ballot this year. :)

POPSPalinese Spoken Here If you're a conservative and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates you're a 'game changer'. I don't think McCain expected his game to change in this manner.
