Obama To Combat “Joe The Plumber” With Average Americans Of His Own
merrie
by merrie  11-2-2008    1
... and Joe Biden starts to knock him around, carping that no real plumber makes $250K. Biden calls Joe the Plumber "the 250 guy," with the plumber now mum on his income. He just says he would like to make that much. The plumber was quoted in the hometown Toledo Blade thusly about Obama's "spread the wealth" cutoff of $250K: "That's a pretty socialist comment. Two-fifty ($250,000) is his number now. When is it going to be one fifty ($150,000), when it's going to be one hundred ($100,000) ?" He's far from the first one to apply the term, of course. Google "socialist" and Obama. You'll be awash in hits. Recently actor Jon Voight wrote this: If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way. http://dallasmorningviewsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/10/joe-the-plumber-2.html

Joe the Plumber May Lose His Right to Vote.
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  10-27-2008    4
Republican Joe might lose his right to vote due to another tactic of Republican voter suppression. Why? Because he name is misspelled. Misspelled by an election official when he registered. Misspelled by one letter. As this clip says: "disenfranchisement by typo." This happen to Jose Lopez-Sandin. The election official typed in his name as 'Joseph." This happen to Anne Nguyen. The election official typed her name as: "Ann." You would think such a thing would be no problem. No. You would think it could be corrected, right now, a few weeks before the elections; or even right there at the voting place. No. So, at least, such a voter could fill out a 'provisional ballot' and that solves the problem. No. Provisional ballots get rejected at an extremely high rate. You think stupid things like this (also, like having your home address with a typo), you would think the law would be changed. No. Republicans like this type of voter suppression that mainl

Police: Ashley Todd's "Moment Of Truth"
merrie
by merrie  10-24-2008
Investigators also said bank surveillance photos did not back up the woman's initial story of being attacked at an ATM. Police interviewed Todd after she contacted police Wednesday night and again on Thursday, Bryant said. They asked her to come back Friday, ostensibly to help police put together a sketch of the man. Instead, detectives began interviewing her. "They just started talking to her and she just opened up and said she wanted to tell the truth," Bryant said.

Statistical Ghost "Proves" Global Warming = A Political Hoax
merrie
by merrie  9-23-2008    2
Ok, two days ago I published a report on the data called The All Important Blade of the Stick Uses Less Than 5% of the Data. This report detailed what I consider powerful evidence that Mann and his group may have intentionally manipulated data in creating this paper. I don’t say this lightly. It is very clear that the proxies, which no one is sure represent temperature, were in fact extended using questionable statistics and then correlated to demonstrate that they match measured temperature. The addition of an up slope to 90% of the data was pasted on according to less than 5% of the data. I am very suspicious that this 5% was chosen specifically because of its up slope in recent times. Think about that only 55 series determined the outcome of the majority of the 1209 series data!! http://noconsensus.wordpress.com/2008/09/18/the-all-important-blade-of-the-stick-uses-less-than-5-of-the-data/ IceCap.us/ http://icecap.us/

tommy2balmy

Normally the bomb disposal soldiers use a remote- controlled razor blade to cut the wires, while they take cover in case the device is booby trapped with a secondary circuit. But WO2 O'Donnell was trapped with his fingers inside the trigger, and he couldn't get away without detonating the explosives. To make matters worse, he wasn't wearing a protective bomb suit, like soldiers in Britain often use to give them extra protection from a blast. The massive, unwieldy suits weigh 45kg and they make it difficult for the soldiers to defend themselves if they get attacked en route to a bomb site. In a single day, WO2 O'Donnell had to defuse eight Taliban bombs on a hill overlooking Helmand's deadly green zone, near Gereshk. The insurgents have started targeting high ground with record numbers of massive improvised explosive devices, because they know it is where the tanks and armoured cars go to provide back-up for soldiers in the valley below.
