POPSMassey Disaster Not Just Tragic, but Criminal Coal pays the bills. And pays Blankenship’s salary, which, estimated by The Associated Press at $19.7 million, is the highest in the coal industry. Massey, who is a board member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is a fierce opponent of organized labor, a relentless denier of climate change and a staunch opponent of regulation. He said of government regulators, last Labor Day at an anti-union rally, “The very idea that they care more about coal-miner safety than we do is as silly as global warming.”

POPSDon Blankenship Called Safety Regulators ‘As Silly As Global Warming’ Don Blankenship — who uses his position on the boards of the National Mining Association and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to promote his conspiracy theories about global warming — said he spent one million dollars to put together the “Friends of America” right-wing rally and rock concert in Holden, WV on September 7, 2009, which starred Ted Nugent, Hank Williams, Jr., and Fox News host Sean Hannity. In 2009, Blankenship also complained that “politicians get emotional” about disasters and establish “nonsensical” safety rules.

POPSGreed-Driven Billionaire Mining Executives You know, the kind of guys who pump millions into the Tea Party. That's right, he has a whole bunch of people who will do anything he wants them to, simply because they don't know any better.

POPSContradictory Supremes' Decision From June 2009
Read this article carefully and see where Justice Kennedy's decision again becomes the crucial vote. Also below, find the quote from Justice Roberts where he essentially says that giving the appearance of justice and impartiality is more important than the actual justice in itself: Joining Kennedy in the ruling were Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, David Souter and John Paul Stevens. In dissent signed by fellow conservatives Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, Chief Justice John Roberts argued that the ruling would damage public confidence in the judiciary: "The Court's new "rule" provides no guidance to judges and litigants about when recusal will be constitutionally required. This will inevitably lead to an increase in allegations that judges are biased, however groundless those charges may be. The end result will do far more to erode public confidence in judicial impartiality than an isolated failure to recuse in a particular case."

POPSFacebook: Defining Your Social Protocols
I have been trying to find a long lost friend of mine from school for about 20 years now. If anyone knows what happened to Theresa Blankenship - call me! That in itself is not why I joined and participate in the Facebook Community. Facebook is an excellent tool for networking, keeping abreast of local community events, international charities, and sometimes just pure entertainment. It's no secret: I love my virtual pet, Kiku. Recently, I have been adding "friends" that I went to high school with. I don't necessarily know these people personally, I just recognize their face, or remember their notoriety from the good ole days. What's wrong with that? What's all the hubbub? If they do not want to connect, all they have to so is ignore the invite. I will not be crushed. Each one of us has the responsibility to define our own social networking protocols. As for me, I think there is nothing wrong with meeting new people and sharing ideas and information. It's a good thing.

POPSWV coal baron: Energy efficiency is communist plot King of WV coal industry (and of WV Republican bankrollers) Don Blankenship rejoices to be criticized by the "communists and atheists" of the Charleston Gazette - and anybody who doesn't believe America's future is built on coal. Did YOU know Charleston was a hub of Communist activity, and that the coal industry was our only hope?

POPSCoal River Mountain blasting permit awarded Historic and beautiful area in WV slated for mountaintop removal mining, even though more energy possible through a wind farm there. You may "sign the petition in support of the Coal River Wind project, but today that's not enough - Call Governor Manchin at 1-888-438-2731 and ask him to put a hold on this permit. Now. Like pronto"

POPSWV charlatan to be examined by US Supreme Court Don Blankenship, CEO of WV's Massey Energy Co., which has a criminal record of over 5,000 counts, has been fined for employee deaths and waterway pollution, DB was seen in Monte Carlo with a WV Supreme Ct judge while appealing a $50 million judgment to the court (judge later recused himself), has another judge on the court who got $3 million from DB to get elected, who refused to recuse himself from the appeal, and the $50 M fine was shot down 3-2. Ah, but now the US Supreme Court has decided it will look over an appeal to the case challenging the judge's presence. Do you suppose justice might prevail in WV? DB has spent over $6 million to elect Republicans in WV.
