POPSElection talking point recap Clipped from my friend Tongodeon 's Livejournal. I don't always agree with him, but he's a smart, clear-eyed, level-headed guy. More from the post: Disgusted with McCain but can't vote for Obama? Perhaps I can interest you in Bob Barr. Also, vote no on Prop 8 because straight marriage is not threatened ( not by that, anyway ) even though same-sex marriage will be . Prop 8 is stupid evil because it won't even accomplish what they think it will accomplish .

POPSCT screws Bob Barr I'm not a fan of Bob Barr, but I think he clearly should be on the ballot. This sort of thing is all too typical given the culture of corruption in this state.

POPSBluehost : Inconsistent email forwarding The remaining three accounts failed to forward within half an hour. I sent a second email to each of them and the response was almost immediate as it had been on the first four accounts.

POPSSunday's C-Span Opportunity: 3rd-Party Candidates Debate (cont.)Nader maintains that if he could get into the debates run by the Commission on Presidential Debates, his numbers would immediately climb because "two-thirds of the people don't know we're running." "It's a Catch-22." Nader describes the debate commission as "a two-party dictatorial company that doesn't want anybody else on the stage." The commission, created in 1987, is a corporation headed by two former chairs of the Democratic and Republican parties.

POPSOpen the Presidential Debates... or we will! Sounds like real American government to me! The internet is like the printing press was in the 1500s. It can bring much needed reformation and revolution like the press did back then. But we have to USE IT. "A computer terminal is not some clunky old television with a typewriter in front of it. It is an interface where the mind and body can connect with the universe and move bits of it about." ~ Douglas Noel Adams

POPSRon Paul Urges Third-Party Vote, Refuses to Endorse McCain Now this is a "maverick" and a "reformer", refusing to endorse the Rino McCain of his same party despite that he has an (R) after his name. If anyone wants to stop the entire phony "war on terrorism", retrieve our liberties and restore Constitutional government, and rein in big government spending (including for unjust wars)--which causes inflation thru dollar devaluation-- the only choice is to vote third party. If everyone voted their conscience, refusing to be bullied into supporting the major two parties, change could then happen. The media drives everyone to support either R or D, so nothing ever changes. Obama openly stated he is for the "war on terrorism", in Afghanistan, and even to attack within Pakistan, like Bush and McCain. Pray tell, what is the difference and "change" then!

POPSBob Barr: The "Change" of the Republican Party Powerful. The neo-republican party exposed from a former republican who pushed to impeach Clinton. Barr's credibility from being a very influential republican Congressman, and earlier experience in the CIA, make his arguments formidable. During the last 8 years republicans have left their own platform, especially regarding limited government and individual liberty which they once championed. Listen on REAL audio beginning at 1:00:00 mark. Despite much talk of democracy the Libertarian candidate is being excluded from debates from the two-party tyranny. Ron Paul and Bob Barr are just two effective witnesses to the "change" of the republican party and the great danger to freedom it poses. .

POPSRon Paul's GOP Counter-Convention Continues to get his revolutionary message out that the GOP is way off the mark in regard to their own traditional republican principles of limited government and individual liberty which the neoconservatives have trampled entirely. The popularity of the message cannot be overlooked and demonstrates the latent great dissatisfaction with the presumptive party nominees of McCain and Obama (who is continuing the talk of the "war on terrorism" as if it is a legitimate and constitutional war--see comments on Afghanistan). This might be the year of the greatest number of alternative candidates on the Presidential ticket: Constitution Party, Libertarian Party, Green Party, will probably be on every state ballot.

POPSAlternatives to Obama If you are as disgusted as I am about Obama's recent political expedience and lack of integrity, try Cythia McKinney, a real honest person WITH integrity, but without all the bells and whistles of Baracko-mania. I'm going Green and back to my original "No more holding my nose" in the voting booth. If the people3 are dumb ewnough to elect either McSame or the quibbling Miracle man, so be it. I won't be a part of it.

POPSYikes! Libertarian Prez Candidate Bob Barr Praises Jesse Helms. Teresa Nielsen-Hayden goes on: Up until this, I actually had kind things to say about Barr, based on the notion that he’d gone through some interesting changes since being a floor manager for the impeachment of Bill Clinton. Never mind that. I’m obviously a complete idiot. Bob Barr is about as "libertarian" as Jesse Helms was "commit to liberty."

POPSA Real Choice The elections have not come down to just McCain and Obama, there are more choices like Libertarian candidate Bob Barr, have a look.

POPSBarrr Might Bar the Door for the GOP When 3rd party candidates can spoil a national race, you can no longer look on them as mere microbes. Although microbes do spoil bodies, they only spoil dead ones.
2
POPSGOP Fears Libertarian Barr Could Be an '08 Spoiler If a vote's close in a swing state, Barr could pull even a small percenage and throw it to Obama. On the other hand, since recent polling gives Obama a double digit lead nationally, a "spoiler effect" might be a moot point.

POPSTell candidates to sign Cluster Bomb Treaty!
Letters to the candidates at link. Here's the sad truth: The United States is the largest producer, stockpiler, and user of cluster bombs in the history of the world. When 111 nations gathered recently to draft a treaty to ban these horrific weapons, the US was conspicuously absent. We need to right this wrong. But the leading presidential candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain, have been silent on whether they will endorse the global cluster bomb ban. We need a President who will do the right thing. Click here to ask all the presidential candidates to commit to sign the global cluster bomb ban. http://salsa.wiredforchange.com/o/1493/t/2765/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=2218 Cluster bombs are designed to open in mid-air, dispersing hundreds of smaller "bomblets." The resulting blasts kill indiscriminately, spraying over an area roughly the size of three football fields. Approximately 30% of ordnance from each bomb will fail to explode on impact, creating virtu

POPSGot it. Barr is Not a Libertarian: but I still want to know who is a Libertarian besides Bill Maher. Can someone define it without negative comparisons (i.e. Barr is not Libertarian)? Tell me what this philosophy is instead of what it is not. And if you start with smaller government and a free market those are still comparative concepts currently owned by Republicans.

POPSJune 10: National Call-in to Prevent Iran War ACT NOW! Ron Paul, Bob Barr, Lynn Woolsey and others will be taking part. Also through DownsizeDC Dispatch you can send a letter to Congress. DO IT TODAY, UNLESS YOU WANT ANOTHER IRAQ AGAIN to limit war powers to Congress alone, consistent with the Constitution.

POPSLocal Boy Makes........good? Bob Barr, that sanctimonious, Bible thumping, bag of wind, has become the standard bearer of the non-consequential, marginal Libertarian Party. What a joke. It seems the Republicans and their bastard cousin have reached the end of the line as far as the 2008 election cycle goes. Bob Barr! What a joke...
