POPSWhen Obama Met Bush, Posturing Caught
Flashing back in case you missed it. Obama's actions were very arrogant (even toward Bush) and presumptuous, which says a whole lot about the President elect. Confidence and arrogance are not the same thing. It is natural for one to defend their legitimate authority (Bush) and to treat the presumptuous with hints and reminders if they behave forwardly, especially when the "show is on" (cameras rolling). The power struggle was caught by the lens. Some are smiling more than others. Barack, who claims to be a Christian, shows bad manners here, for Jesus plainly taught about the humble patiently waiting to be "called up" toward the head of the table. Obama is not yet officially President, nor have the White House. This foreshadows a lot! Beware of the humble appearing leader as soon as he assumes power. Finish the proverb, "Absolute power corrupts...." No one in this article mentioned Michelle's "Diva red"--shoulders to toes--while Barack and Bush dressed almost identical.

POPSWoman Escapes Domestic Violence From Police Officer Husband I could see and hear from Barbara Sheehans words and body language that facing prison is not going to be as bad as the hell of an existance she was forced to endure for so many years. She has hired attorney Michael Dowd who will be representing her in her trial scheduled for sometime in the spring.

POPSGroup Bragging Betrays Insecurity It reminds me of a book i have read by Isaac Asimov, "Foundation", in which the character Salvor Hardin says: "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent. "

POPSRoger Ebert's Analysis of McCain McCain either thinks he is too good to speak to Obama or has something to hide. I think both are the case. McCain married into money and is simply an Ultra Rich Bitch and now considers himself above the average American. So if in office he will not work for the American people, but for big corporations and the ultra rich. He really should take a lesson from some of the very wealthy in Silicon Valley who do good with their money and treat people of all levels with dignity and respect.

POPSGreat science books for little kids, from HarperChildrens This is an excellent series. Short, easy-to-read, beautifully illustrated books on simple science topics -- like bugs, seeds, storms, seasons, sleep, and teeth -- written in engaging language that children can both understand AND learn real scientific facts from. Two levels of difficulty: stage 1 is for pre-K to K-age children; stage 2 is for kids in primary grades.

POPSBrave New World of Digital Intimacy
It is easy to become unsettled by privacy-eroding aspects of awareness tools. But there is another — quite different — result of all this incessant updating: a culture of people who know much more about themselves. Many of the avid Twitterers, Flickrers and Facebook users I interviewed described an unexpected side-effect of constant self-disclosure. The act of stopping several times a day to observe what you’re feeling or thinking can become, after weeks and weeks, a sort of philosophical act. It’s like the Greek dictum to “know thyself,” or the therapeutic concept of mindfulness. (Indeed, the question that floats eternally at the top of Twitter’s Web site — “What are you doing?” — can come to seem existentially freighted. What are you doing?) Having an audience can make the self-reflection even more acute, since, as my interviewees noted, they’re trying to describe their activities in a way that is not only accurate but also interesting to others: the status update as a literary form.

POPSIs McCain checking out Palin's, um, "background?" (1:15) It's not that kind of Vice, Senator. Best case construction, he's reading her notes. But the look on his face - and the blinks when he looks away - certainly do look like "that" kind of look. And the body language at the end - where she edges away and he edges in for a hug - is very odd.
