POPSHow Obama Became a Muslim? The short clip is a snippet from the Times illuminating story about Andy Martin, a disturbed individual notorious for filing unsubstantiated lawsuits to such an extent that a federal judge barred him from further filing without approval. Jerome Corsi, author of Obama Nation, opens his book with a quote from Mr. Martin. The story is a look at the slimy underside of Conservative attack politics. One, regrettably, that McCain and his attack dog Palin, have embraced recently.

POPSIfill Under Scrutiny I found it interesting that World News Daily is mentioned as the source that broke this "story". Anyone not familiar with this particular web site will not be surprised that they have concerns about Ifill. The clip mentions that WND is a "right-leaning" Web site. That's like calling the Pope slightly religious. Admittedly, my only exposure to this site has been through articles by DeSousa (far right religious nut), I'd take anything they wrote with a pound of salt.

POPSSect attempted secret donations to Howard I made this claim in a clip I posted about the family wreckers last night. My only surprise was that Howard claims he knocked it back. These people seem to believe that all conservationists are gay. They spent a lot attempting to sling crap at the Greens. Very vindictive and totally wrong. A strange group, still sects are sects and seem to like to label themselves as having exclusive rights to some afterlife.

POPSObama birth cert rumors debunked - again Includes FactCheck photos; A knock on libel-meister Jerome Corsi, whose recent book Obama Nation alleges it was a fake. FactCheck handles the document and swats every allegation. Not all are included in the clip - see the article. Also found: a birth announcement in a Honolulu newspaper from 1961. Give it up, conspiracists. It is and always was baloney, and you got used to spread it.

POPSUnderstanding the "Predator State" Full of thought-provoking analysis of how corporate America gained control of government. Lots to think about here. Looks like a must-blog piece. The clip is only intro to the good stuff.

POPSEconomics in One Clip One reason that Bastiat's example has power is that it applies not just in one area of policy but all areas. If it isn't true that breaking windows creates wealth, it is not true that government spending and inflating is a boon to the economy. It only ends up draining wealth from the private sector, which is the only source of wealth creation.

POPSTen Dubious Clip Tips for Mental Health <<<Transcultural Psychiatrists would certainly have a few dilemmas with the above list. The serious Neuroanthropologist probably does too! But what the heck, I put them here just for fun! Mind you, the list might lead to some interesting questions about what could be considered the definitive TOP 10 FOR BRAIN HEALTH applicable across cultures!>>> (article author). There are grains of truth floating about in this fun , of course. I infer the writer is inviting readers to confirm the state of their own mental fitness by indulging in a healthy demolition of such breezy tips lists. I'd say you should be able to rattle off ten major objections to the list fairly quickly if your mental health is robust.

POPSWriter's Digest 101 Best Sites Awards for 2008 There was NO way I was going to try and clip all of these sites but they are ALL worthwhile to any beginning writer or even a journeyman writer who has been out of the game for a while. I did not even go through the entire list but chose bits and pieces from the first half or so. Many say that there is no way that a writer can be discovered or get free advice. Here is some free advice. Enter Contests. Enter EVERY Contest you are eligible for. Wjen you look on the list and see the Horror Writer's Association link (Horror.org) I want you to know that this last Halloween, I found out just a half-hour before the deadline that a contest was running. I found an old story, dusted it off and entered it with 15 minutes to spare. I won. 1st Prize. My story was eventually printed in Rue Morgue magazine and now I am writing for a publisher under contract! Who'd a thunk it?

POPSGood Reads This clip does not look like much but I really enjoy this site when checking for my next volume to consume !

POPSBrian Dettmer: Book Autopsies Finding this site was sheer chance. I tried to get as much of his artwork from the two main sites as I could and I think we have a very nice presentation of his work. More personal details of the artist and how he does such beautiful work are at the end of the clip... Enjoy. I did.

POPSInnumeracy's John Allen Paulos on credulity and love A great post from 3quarksdaily (Feb. 2008) about the human desire to believe in something, even a fraud. Context: Paulos has put together a book debunking probabilistic arguments for God's existence. The clip doesn't do it justice -- RTWT ("read the whole thing").
