POPSThe Revolver notebook
More: With the two still shots of the RevolveR Bound Journals above, one might think that they were two different journals at a quick glance, but amazingly enough, they are the same journal. It is very easy to “revolve” from one journal to the next, and the flexibility of having a journal with lined and unlined paper all at once is quite nice. Regardless of which side of this 5 1/2″ by 7 1/2″ journal you are using, it has a magnetic closure on the front side that does a nice job of keeping it securely closed. Some of the other nice features about this notebook are things that you would expect to find with any other high end journal. The very first and very last pages of the journals are writable, and on the lined version, although it is thicker stock, they are both is still lined. Another nice feature is that regardless of which journal you are using, they both lay perfectly flat when open, and I know that many people enjoy having their journals stay flat and open like thi

POPSFurther refutation of the Obamoid "settlement freeze" formula Michael Oren is Israel's ambassador to the US. He is also an IDF veteran and a historian of some note. His book, Power, Faith, and Fantasy covers the two-hundred-years US history of relations with Arab/Muslim nations. His article here of course is in support of Netanyahu's policy towards the West Bank. That's to be expected since Oren is Netanyayhu's ambassador. But the point is that Oren/Netanyahu have some facts on their side while the Obamoids only have Power, Faith, and Fantasy

POPSBook Publishing: Intersection of Racism and Sexism
Ursula Le Guin spoke about the white-washing of book covers at the BookAmerca expo. Overexoticizing occurs too: click white-washed cover link. There is, in fact, a large audience for “black books” but they weren’t discovered until African American authors started self-publishing and selling their books on the subway and on the street and directly into schools. And, yet, the publishing industry still doesn’t seem to get it. Perhaps the whole “black books don’t sell” thing is a self-fulfilling prophecy? And then there’s the fantasy writer who had to user her first initial and borrow her grandmother’s name to use as a middle initial since her publisher didn’t think that kids would accept a woman writing a book with a male protagonist, this woman of course being J. K. Rowling. If we go back a few decades, there’s James Tiptree, Jr. Likewise, I don’t know of any men writing Romance, though there are probably some, but who write using female pseudonysm

POPSBut We Are Always Meeting Ourselves "This is the function of books — we learn how to live even if we weren’t there. Fiction gives us access to a very real history. Stories are the best democracy we have. We are allowed to become the other we never dreamed we could be. As for me, with a clean bill of health now, I finally know where my grandfather is buried — happily between the covers of a book, where he sits, smoking and drinking still."

POPSMemorial Day Patriotism, Myths, and "Day of Deceit"
Memorial Day has become a means of self-justification and propaganda to paint a picture of military operations through "remembering the dead" into National Righteousness. Books like this one quickly counter and dispel such myths about the wars Americans have fought in, being misled by Presidents on a global agenda instead of wars of self-defense. the eminent newsman, Edward R. Murrow, who snacked with FDR the night of Pearl Harbor, told his wife the president had revealed: "the biggest story of my life, but I don't know if it's my duty to tell it or forget it." According to Stinnett, years after the war ended, Murrow informed another journalist: "That story would send Casey Murrow through college, and if you think I'm going to give it to you, you're out of your mind." This article covers much more than this book, up to the present wars since 9/11, showing that "oil" plays an important role in each for Petro-Imperialism See article for much more.

POPSJerusalem - Prof.: Magen David Not an Ancient Jewish Symbol
The official usage of the Star of David as a Jewish symbol began in Prague. Prof. Scholem writes that it was either chosen by the local Jewish community or by the Christian rule as a means of branding the Jews, who later adopted and embraced it. In 1354 Emperor Charles IV granted the Jews the privilege of raising a flag of their own, and this flag contained the Magen David. One of these flags can still be found in Prague's Old-New Synagogue. From Prague, where the Magen David was printed on book covers and engraved on cemetery headstones, the symbol spread to the rest of Europe and gradually became known as the symbol of Judaism. During the first Zionist Congress in Basel in 1897 the Zionist flag, which bears a blue Star of David, was chosen. But Prof. Scholem claims that the symbol only became truly meaningful during the Holocaust, after the Nazis used it to mark the Jews, and thus sanctified it. According to Scholem, this gave the graphic symbol a spiritual sense of sacredne
