There are similar tools on the market, but I prefer this one, 'cause it's free and you don't have to download and install software. I like my machine to stay clean and mean :-)

Save the following link as a "bookmarklet" by dragging it to your Links bar (in Firefox, Safari) or right-clicking and adding it to your favorites (in Internet Explorer, Opera): to download the MP4 files, you need to use the same URL like for FLV files and append "&fmt=18": http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=ID&t=SIGNATURE&fmt=18 ID is the video's identification value, SIGNATURE is a value that prevents you from downloading the file just by knowing the ID. You could create this URL by looking at the source code of a YouTube page, but it's much easier to automatically generate it. When you want to download a YouTube video, click on the bookmarklet and you should see a new option below the embeddable code. Because YouTube doesn't send the right MIME type, you shouldn't click on the download link. Right-click and select "save link as" or "save target as" and enter a proper name for the video. It's easy to embed a clip in a Tumblr-hosted tumblelog, but -- something for the developers to consider -- I bet the site would gain some good visibility from automating the process. Especially if it were just as easy to insert a plain HTML clip (like you can with Clip-to-Blog on Blogger) as it is to embed a Flash clip widget

POPSClipmarks bug? Clipping tool failing to activate Sometimes when there is high CPU load on my computer and I click the clipping tool button, I can't clip anything. The bar at the top of the browser appears normally, but even after waiting a while, the orange lines never appear. Sometimes if I click "cancel" and reload the page and try again, the problem goes away; sometimes it doesn't. I'm running FF 2.0.0.6 on XP with a lot of extensions installed. Maybe this is an argument for offering an alternative way of clipping pages (e.g. a javascript bookmarklet)?
