Posting Personal Information to the Internet can Boomerang on you
mikehcg
by mikehcg  8-29-2008
This is just one example of many. Philip Gore-Randall name and reputation is being used by crooks running a 419 or advance fee type of fraud. If you receive a message claiming to come from Philip and offering you a budget of 2.8 million USD to run a project in your country, I recommend you just delete and forget it.

B-2 Stealths Bomb Hawaii
blueridge
by blueridge  11-24-2007
The articles says in practice they do not use the GPS precision guided bombs, but rely on "gravity" and "wind" for trajectory. Why practice with a technique you would never use? I dont believe this, no way a Stealth flying at over 450 mph (min. to stay air born in this flying wing) drops a bomb without using GPS plus, or they miss. This is probably a story to answer the questions of Islanders of have seen the aircraft and questioned the practice. The B2 was designed for high altitude stealth bombing at range that human bomb release could not accurately hit. (Just ask any pilot from WW2).

Microsoft's woes?
alexpapa
by alexpapa  9-25-2007
The hits seem to keep coming for Microsoft who has hard time imposing Vista on the market, faces issues with Excel, a flagship product, and lost an important legal battle with the EU Commission over its competitive behavior. While Microsoft's tactics justifiably cause customers to be concerned, I believe the weapon of market dominance ends up being a boomerang for a company because its erodes its relational capital with customers and local communities, drives intense reactions from competitors and regulators and probably leads to some form of complacency and arrogance of its personnel, who may end up believing that whatever they release will end up being bought by a market taken hostage by their employer.

Mortgage woes help some traditional banks
Forbes Business
by Forbes Business  8-30-2007
Some old fashioned banks are seeing the silver lining to the current mortgage mess. More customers looking for plain vanilla loans are returning to their local banks rather than finance through the likes of Coutrywide Financia or other mortgage specialists. - Tom Van Riper

Programmers say the craziest things in their code
Kore7
by Kore7  10-14-2006    2
With the new Google Code Search tool suddenly exposing millions of lines of previously obscure code to the public, I decided to try to find the most embarrassing comments possible that are now out in the open for all to see. Even knowing what types of comments developers leave in their code, I was still a bit mortified to find out just what shameful secrets Google has exposed overnight. (And you should see the R-rated examples.) One blogger compared Google Code Search to reading the great "bathroom wall" of programming. Feel dirty? embryo-0.9.0/src/bin/embryo_main.c 3: /* This is ugly code! don't look at it please! i am embarrassed! i need to */ /* cleanit up! */
