POPSWant a brain that bounces back like a super ball? This is looking really good for my running friends - while they may be killing their knees and hips, they are keeping their brains young! (I walk and occasionally job 15 miles a day) One caveat though - the test was done on rhesus monkeys. So if you run a lot, have slightly longer arms than the rest of us and...

POPSJeff Galloway: IDing and avoiding form-related running problems Click through for "Suggestions for running smoother, reducing irritation". More: Time goal runners need to run faster, and this means some increase in stride length, greater bounce and foot pushing. By gradually increasing the intensity of speed training (with sufficient rest intervals and rest days between), feet and legs can adapt, but there is risk of injury. Be sensitive to your weak links and don't keep running if there is the chance that you may be starting an injury. Posture is an individual issue. Most of the runners I've worked with find that an upright posture (like a “puppet on a string”) is best in all ways. When runners use a forward lean there is a tendency to develop lower back pain and neck pain. A small minority of runners naturally run with a forward lean with no problems. In this case, one should run the way that is most natural.

POPSThe Importance of Having Friends Who Disagree Many people make the mistake of surrounding themselves with people who think exactly like them and reinforce every idea or prejudice they have. This is a bad mistake and will often end up distorting the reality you see. One may end up with a "fan club" that just reinforces your prejudices. So do a quick test right now. Make a list of your closest friends/acquintances/advisors. Then make a separate list of those who think totally differently from you, but are worth listening to anyway. Look at the intersection of these lists. You may be surprised.

POPSLanding Page, Shmanding Page Landing pages are lazy pages. They're used by people who don't want to take the time to integrate a campaign into their overall marketing efforts. Your home page is your best landing page.

POPSPoll: Lowest support yet for healthcare We all know this. As more of the population becomes aware of this bill the more opposed to it they became. I'm convinced that's why the Stimulus and Clunkers Bill went so quickly. Speed...while they're unsuspecting. Suddenly, people have became more informed & suspicious. Suddenly the people realized they were being duped with all that verbal hype that means nothing. Slow & steady wins the race. Reform is necessary, but this needs to be seriously vetted and studied with cognizance of what the long-term effects will be. Is there no one in Congress who will commit themselves to this most vital issue that effects (affects) soooooo many Americans for decades to come?

POPSOops, He Did It Again: John Edwards Continues His Epic Fall From Grace This should be a lesson to everyone in Washington. Admit your role and your party's role in the corruption that is all around you. People are tired of being lied to and bill's being written by special interests that are shoved down our throats. Get rid of the deep seeded corruption around you and maybe the American people will actually re-elect you. Otherwise, it doesn't look too good for any incumbent. Now that the average American is paying attention, it will take more than sound bytes and large campaign funds. More than ever, accountability and integrity are required. It's time to come clean with the American People you are supposed to represent. Stepping down off my soap box now.

POPSWhat is a positive attitude This world is far from perfect. As we go on through our lives, we are bound to suffer setbacks and failures---some of them major. Having a positive attitude goes a long way in helping us bounce back from these setbacks and going on to greater heights.

POPSMoney spent on war vs cost of health care reforms According to the Center for Defense Information, the total cost of the war in Afghanistan will reach $439.8 billion by the end of 2009. The United States, which spent exactly 10 times more on Afghanistan in 2008 ($140 billion) than it spent in 2002 ($14 billion), increased such efforts by $33 billion in just the last year. Obama's escalation, largely overshadowed by the health reform's incendiary spectacle, has been swift and significant. It's also showing no signs of slowing down. On Thursday, a Senate subcommittee approved 2010's $636.3 billion defense appropriations bill. Of this, $128.2 billion has been set aside for "overseas contingency operations." Simple multiplication tells us that the cost of maintaining this rate of defense spending for the next decade would eventually make Afghanistan $300 billion more expensive than the health care overhaul's projected cost. And that's just dollars and cents...

We are now accepting your feedback about health insurance reform via http://www.whitehouse.gov/realitycheck.” So they say, but six hours have gone by without a bounce-back. Something is fishy here.

POPSEye drops 'may reverse glaucoma' t might boost the capacity of healthy RGCs to form new connections within the optic nerve, to compensate for any damage that had already taken place. However, nerve growth factor cannot rescue RGCs that have already died - in common with brain tissue, the optic nerve cannot regenerate.
