POPS Official: 4 Dead After Twister Tears Through Scout camp Bauwens, the Red Cross nurse, said many of the injuries happened when a brick fireplace in one shelter was ripped apart by the storm. The shelter was one of four where scouts had run for cover. The National Weather Service was referring to the event as a tornado by late Wednesday. It said it received a report of a touchdown at 6:35 p.m. Officials at Burgess Memorial Hospital, about 20 miles from the ranch, said they had treated several patients injured by the storm Wednesday night and that injuries ranged from minor to serious. A spokesman for Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City said two children had arrived at the hospital by helicopter. "These are traumatic injuries," said spokesman Mike Krysl, who said the regional trauma center is "in disaster mode." Heavy downpours hit the region over the weekend, with more thunderstorms predicted for Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

We believe that those values are important. Tradition is important. Our mission is to instill those values in scouts and help them make good choices over their lifetimes.” Good choices??? Give me a break. What does anyone's sexual orientation have to do with being excluded from the boy scouts? Come on. Deal with it boy scouts, the day of hiding in the closet is over.

POPSThe Boy Scouts vs. America Some of the finnest boy scouts I ever knew also happened to be gay. They never came on to me, or shirked their duties. They aren't the dainty queens you see on queer eye for the striaght guy. What exactly is it that the BSA means when it says "Homosexuality would be inconsistent with the values they want to communicate with their leaders"? The only values I see he are hate, intollerance, ignorance and fear. I've done a lot of wilderness surival, and a lot of very serrious outdoors high adventure, both with the boy scouts and without. If there's one thing I know for sure: you can't survive in the mountains with your head up your own ass.

POPSRichardson Would Not Accept Honnor From Bigoted Scouts Bill Richardson, who gave such a poor performance at the LOGO/HRC forum, pledged he would not accept the honorary tile of leader of the Boy Scouts if he was elected. Richardson does not stand a chance of winning the nomination but it is nice to see him standing up for what he believes in. His record on GLBT issues has been great in his carreer as Governor of New Mexico.

POPSDuct Tape Bag-Nifty I know this isn't an eco-friendly craft, but it is fun. My daughter came home from Girl Scouts the other day with one of these. Instead of a book, they used a gallon-sized zipper-type storage bag and put the tape on it. My son has the wallet from Boy Scouts.
