POPSArtificial memory storage this is amazing. if it works it can be used not only for the sick, why not having an external hard drive to store memories, and new information, or to download some existing one, making space to newer? sounds intriguing, and yes it woulkd change human identity. But hey, why not?

POPSNew Memory Technologies Considering the recent advances in Brain-Machine interface, and the development of new neural implants, it is quite clear that Memory management is only the tip of the iceberg, I definitely agree with D.Peletier that the main effect of these new technologies will be to vastly improve our wellbeing

POPSThe future of Mind Control research is showing that the brain can act independently of the body. One day, you could be sitting in an office and controlling a device from across the room—or in another building. And it’s not just flicking a switch. It could be a nanotool that’s moving through a tiny environment, and you can control it and see what it’s seeing.” That kind of extension could lead to new spectrums of scale and force, not to mention new kinds of sensory input altogether. Instead of merely imagining that you’re grasping a nanotool with virtual fingers, you could learn to pilot it like a minuscule spaceship—only with your mind. And if that device had any sensors, you might be able to process the data as though it were a tiny camera.

POPSSea cucumber makes hard plastic go soft and back again. It's amazing the number of discoveries we have made which have been described as great innovations, when nature has found a quicker and easier way long before us. Our destruction of the environment is destroying many of these examples before we find them. Nature has a remarkable way of working around problems, as the 'law of survival remains fundamental, and it has had hundreds of millions of years of field tests.

POPSBionic implants raise ethical question What's the difference between a bionic ear, and an artificial leg, a kidney dialysis machine a heart valve or a breast implant ? They're all artificial substitutions. I have trouble finding the reason for anyone but the recipient to judge. As for the fear of 'superhuman' capabilities It is just a matter of taking the next step and substituting the brain. Then there's a robot/cyborg with absolutely no ethics, just a command chain, but a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. When is the public ever listened to anyway ? Perhaps we should ask a deaf philosopher.

POPSDeep Brain Stimulation - Depression Cure? The ability to dial up happiness on demand? Of course, this is a very limited experiement right now - but might have positive outcome for people with severe depression as well as Parkinsons.

POPSNext-Generation Retinal Implant The implant transmits signals to an array of electrodes surgically implanted on the retina. The array delivers electrical signals to the nerve cells in the eye, mimicking the role of light-sensitive cells lost in degenerative retinal disease.

POPSBrain Implants to Restore Vision Harvard researchers chose to focus on part of the visual system called the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN), a relay station along the route from the optic nerve to the visual cortex, where visual information is processed. And unlike locations in the visual cortex, the LGN is one of the first "stops" in the visual system, meaning that the neural signals encoding visual information have not yet been extensively processed and spread throughout the brain.

POPSFuture Terrorists Good article, but remember who has developed the technology in the first place. - certainly not some guys in caves in Afghanistan Your children will be hearing this excuse in the media of their time.

POPS"2020 Neural Implant Chips - Fact of Fiction?" Results of testing: Sickening, and yet over the course of the technological timeline, these will pretty much be peer pressured for use under whatever guise these chips are promoted as (i.e. health, technological marvel, "convenience", or God forbid, mandatory). RFIDs are already trying to take their place in the world under every field imaginable and coaxed into things that we wouldn't need them for, what they really are for is surveillance, identification, electronic tagging and radio feedback. RFIDs and forced universal ID cards are the stepping stone prior to a microchipped population, so do your part as human beings with any bit of ethics and morality left in you and fight back. Say no to RFID tagging, say no to ID cards, say no to socialism/fascism/globalism/one-world-government, and say no to the chip. - Peace
