POPSRace in the race One wonders when people (on both sides of the aisle) will realize that skin pigmentation has nothing to do with brain function.

POPSDust, Air, Water Sources of Lead In the late1970 in the U.S. Lead was banned from Gasoline, and paint, amongst other things. While Atmospheric Lead levels were reduced, the Lead didn't just disappear, it just settled into the soil, and accumulated in other places. Lead was and is a common ingredient in many household and industrial products much of the time it's inclusion is either unknown or ignored. It is one of the poisons that effects Everybody - Rich or poor. Things like this accumulate at the top of the food chain - That is generally people. There is no cure.

POPSScorpion venom offers improved cancer surgery Precision is paramount in operations to remove tumours, when cancerous cells can be missed and left behind. It is especially important when dealing with the brain, where some 80 per cent of malignant cancers return at the edge of surgical sites and where surrounding neurons must not be damaged.

POPS10 Free Life-Lessons on Being a Professional Artist Margaret has composed a nice list of motivators for artists who seem to be stuck in a rut. Well, I have no urge to be a professional artist, but I do want to get better at the little art I do. And I can admit, my butt was kicked by Lesson #2.

POPSDarwin’s God - Is belief in god genetic? Atran, ... is an anthropologist at the National Center for Scientific Research in Paris, with joint appointments at the University of Michigan and the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. His research interests include cognitive science and evolutionary biology, and sometimes he presents students with a wooden box that he pretends is an African relic. “If you have negative sentiments toward religion,” he tells them, “the box will destroy whatever you put inside it.” Many of his students say they doubt the existence of God, but in this demonstration they act as if they believe in something. Put your pencil into the magic box, he tells them, and the nonbelievers do so blithely. Put in your driver’s license, he says, and most do, but only after significant hesitation. And when he tells them to put in their hands, few will. If they don’t believe in God, what exactly are they afraid of? Interesting read.

POPSDarwin’s God “All of our raptures and our drynesses, our longings and pantings, our questions and beliefs . . . are equally organically founded,” William James wrote in “The Varieties of Religious Experience.”

POPSEnvironmental Effects of Increased Carbon Dioxide Even in the face of the cry :"Don't even bother questioning. We've snuffed out ALL debate !" --- don't allow greenhouse effect on your brain. What they want you to do is give in, and say,"OK Fix it for us. AT ANY COST." They will paint the questioners as dinosaurs;dead-enders;heads-in-the-sand. Fight it with awareness, research, and ideas.

POPSReuters - Warren Ellis and SL How Reuters missed the fact that this man's writing is (I promise, I mean this in a good way) like a bullet--made of rabid weasels with paint stripper on their nipples--to your brain is beyond me. Here's to hoping they figure they don't need to review the stuff before he goes live with it.
