Google can accurately estimate flu activity faster than CDC?
Lexica
by Lexica  11-13-2008
"We've found that certain search terms are good indicators of flu activity. Google Flu Trends uses aggregated Google search data to estimate flu activity in your state up to two weeks faster than traditional flu surveillance systems. " Fascinating! I knew that data from Where's George? has been useful to epidemiologists. And now Google, too.

Optimism and Pessimism
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  11-11-2008    1
The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds; and the pessimist fears this is true. ~ James Branch Cabell, Pessimist: One who, when he has the choice of two evils, chooses both. ~ Oscar Wilde Optimism is a kind of heart stimulant - the digitalis of failure. ~ Elbert Hubbard A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties. ~ Harry Truman A pessimist is a man who thinks all women are bad. An optimist is a man who hopes they are. ~ Chauncey Mitchell Depew

An Election Day Note: Thanks, President Bush
jatfla

Me too. I believe he will gladly leave the White House and return to private life to live as a private citizen. I believe he will be sad by what he was not able to accomplish and fearful of what lies ahead for all of us. Since I never read the Daily Kos, Huffington, Salon, or watched CNN, I never saw anything in his conduct as my President to make me ashamed or embarrassed. I believe he is a man who tried to do what was best of us and the US. Sadly, he didn't have much to work with in the other Branch of Government.

Oh of course it's based on his 'religion', there for it's OK for him to refuse helping those he's tasked to help. And then this; "Mr McFarlane said he was 'sad and disappointed' with the 'bigotry' he had experienced" Gotta love it when a bigot calls someone else a bigot. Damn hypocrite!

After the election - the USSA
pkronfield
by pkronfield  10-26-2008
The only thing I will enjoy, in a perverse sort of way, should Obama be elected, is the upheaval and suffering Americans will face, including all the fools who voted in a socialist government. The blacks and minorities have been sold a bill of goods that their lives will be better. In fact, there will be less jobs, less opportunity, less wealth, more war, and deeper economic turmoil. When I see the same blacks and hispanics in the bread lines who voted for the obamanation, I will chuckle.

Police: Ashley Todd's "Moment Of Truth"
merrie
by merrie  10-24-2008
Investigators also said bank surveillance photos did not back up the woman's initial story of being attacked at an ATM. Police interviewed Todd after she contacted police Wednesday night and again on Thursday, Bryant said. They asked her to come back Friday, ostensibly to help police put together a sketch of the man. Instead, detectives began interviewing her. "They just started talking to her and she just opened up and said she wanted to tell the truth," Bryant said.

A Third Of Absentee Ballots In One NM District Were Phony

Helps Raise Albuquerque's Fraudulent Vote Share To 30% Good thing the Supreme Court has just ruled that Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner doesn't need to reconcile the 200,000 mismatched registrations that she had been hiding. Obama paid $800,000 in good money for ACORN's Ohio services and even went to the trouble of concealing it from the FEC. It would be a slap in the face not to allow those tireless fraudulent registration efforts to blossom into fraudulent votes, especially now that New Mexico has shown beyond a doubt that it can work. A glorious day for community organizing! Handcrafted by Flip on October 17, 2008 Voter Registration Fraud DOES Lead to Voter Fraud http://townhall.com/blog/g/c931ad6e-9ff5-4bca-96be-2ac7ac700f4f

NOW WE MUST WIN AND PROUDLY SO
klippety
by klippety  10-18-2008
There is this moment in our hands and Americans can and will be proud again to be a just people. DON'T BE SILENT BUT BE PROUD TO BE LIBERAL AND AMERICAN. Social liberalism, also called new liberalism (as it was originally termed), high liberalism radical liberalism, modern liberalism, or in North America and the United Kingdom simply liberalism, is a branch of liberalism which emphasizes individual rights and equal opportunity for all citizens. For social liberals, the lack of education, health, or employment, is seen as an equally large threat to individual freedom as state compulsion and coercion. Additionally, like other liberals, social liberals support (with qualifications) free markets, private entrepreneurship, and a limited state.
