POPSIs the Rudd Government now all talk? Sadly it looks increasingly that the great moves initially by the Rudd Government of Australia have become little more than "hot air". As if we need more Global warming! Sea Shepherd have been left to soldier on alone as the Japanese practise their butchering of the whales. Garrett, Australia's environment spokesman was full of noise prior to his election - now he is ominously quiet. The excuse is that Australia is using diplomatic channels - and we know how mind-numbingly slow progress there can be devoid of the public gaze! Comeon "Ozzies" stir the tripe out of your Government - it needs a rocket up its backside!

POPSProp 8 Legal Challenge Filed Last May, the California Supreme Court found that depriving same-sex couples the right to marry violated equal protection – and that LGBT people are a "suspect class." A "suspect class" is a group that has suffered discrimination and needs protection. The central purpose behind equal protection is to protect unpopular minorities from a political majority who could take away their rights. You can’t simply change the Constitution by majority vote to take away the right of gay people to marry – because that right comes from the equal protection clause. As Herrera wrote in his brief, "without a judiciary that has the final word on equal protection, there simply is no such thing as equal protection."

POPSGay couples start marrying in Connecticut The Connecticut Supreme Court ruled 4-3 on Oct. 10 that same-sex couples have the right to wed rather than accept a civil union law designed to give them the same rights as married couples.

POPSThe Deadly Game Of Gaming in 2005, after a 50-hour Starcraft session. All we can say is we hope he won. The man, identified only by his family name Lee, sat down to play the online battle simulation game Starcraft at an internet cafe in the southern city of Taegu last Wednesday morning and stayed there for the next three days, stopping only for brief naps or toilet breaks. South Korean newspapers reported that Lee had recently been fired from his job because he spent too much time playing computer games. When he failed to return home by Friday, however, his mother asked his former colleagues to find him. When they reached the cafe, Lee told his friends that he would finish the game and go home. He died a few minutes later. Computer games are enormously popular in South Korea and professional gamers can earn big money through sponsorships and television stations devoted to broadcasting matches. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article553840.ece

POPSGeorgia Claims on Russia War Called Into Question The war was started at the night of opening Olympic Games in Beijing, when ancient traditions of mankind do requiring to stop any hostile actions anywhere in a world. That did means nothing for challenged medieval vassal, blinded by his grandiose ambitions and brainless geopilitic from overseas. It is the shame Georgian and Russian people, centuries living together in peace and friendship, now become enemies. Who's malicious mind have denigrate them to that low point?

POPSAn America Led by San Francisco, Las Vegas, And Hyde Park Values? A moderate Republican President will be the only balance we have to a House and Senate controlled by the far left. If America chose to elect Barack Obama, they'll be electing a man that the National Journal ranked as the most extreme Senator in office, to left of even Vermont's Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders. Elevated from one of the most unpopular Congresses in American history, a President Obama would rubber-stamp the decisions of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Are you ready for an America led by San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Hyde Park values? Americans need John McCain as President, because what is best for America is a balanced government, neither red, nor blue, but overall, purple.

POPSUSA Disdain for EU Must End with Bush's departure. As Naomi Klein and others have noted, this order contravened international law. The 1907 Hague convention requires an occupying power to respect the laws of the country it has invaded. Before Silverberg, Washington's chief representative in Europe was Clayland Boyden Gray. As the grandson of Bowman Gray, who owned Reynolds Tobacco, he inherited a vast fortune gained from the industry. It is only fitting, then, that he has spent much of his professional life trying to water down environmental and public health rules including the landmark clean air act.

POPSThe Triumph of Ignorance
More: "Besides fundamentalist religion, perhaps the most potent reason why intellectuals struggle in elections is that intellectualism has been equated with subversion. The brief flirtation of some thinkers with communism a long time ago has been used to create an impression in the public mind that all intellectuals are communists. Almost every day men like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly rage against the "liberal elites" destroying America. The spectre of pointy-headed alien subversives was crucial to the election of Reagan and Bush. A genuine intellectual elite - like the neocons (some of them former communists) surrounding Bush - has managed to pitch the political conflict as a battle between ordinary Americans and an over-educated pinko establishment. Any attempt to challenge the ideas of the rightwing elite has been successfully branded as elitism. Obama has a good deal to offer America, but none of this will come to an end if he wins. Until the great failures of the US edu

POPSFascinating This is a movie I'm looking forward to watching in 2009. I was a boy when the original Star Trek came to the small screen and I'm hoping that spirit will be recaptured in the new film. Love long, and prosper.
