POPSYou remember Al Qaeda, right? The Anchoress, who came to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And she was fresh out of bubblegum. Yeah, that guy! The guy who does more than just talk about freedom and progress. The guy who has brought real hope and change to people all over the world, and yes, here in America. But you don’t want to hear it. It’s the wrong and inconvenient narrative, the embargoed one.

POPSResurgence of the fake tattoo Fake tattoos have come a long way since the ones that came with my 5 cent piece of bubblegum at 7-11. Now they look more real than fake, like the tattoos that covered Guy Pierce's body in "Memento". Yesterday, my students saw my new tattoo for the first time and one of them asked, "Are you ever going to have them removed?" Without skipping a beat, I answered, "No, I'm going to be an old Asian lady with tats." He said, "I wish my grandma had tattoos." We had a good laugh but it did get me thinking about the permanence of these pieces on my body. I love the work that's been done on me. I know they are permanent. However, I can see why people would want temporary ones. I really don't get the whole "wild of a night" thing or idea that you can be a "rebel" for a moment. But maybe that goes with the idea of watching too much Miami Ink. Is it still subversive to have tattoos?

POPSSideload Service Launched By Michael Robertson This is really cool. Roberston has done it again. Very innovative. I have been using the Locker (I bought the year subscription) since they launched it and it is great. Even synchs with iTunes. I just love the portability of this thing.
